Chapter 1889 - 1889 The Compass Was Useless
Miracle Pill Maker Bullies the Boss
1889 The Compass Was Useless
Huo Yao thought about the things that happened a few years ago. Back then, she occasionally went to Serene Village to give medical treatment. Also, she did some research to find out the reason for the residents’ short lifespan.
She was unable to find an answer, but she suspected it had something to do with the clan.
Before long, Yang Yi sent the rough location to Zhuo Yun’s phone.
The car drove swiftly. They drove on the highway for over three hours before entering streets with a lot of potholes.
The road was covered by dense undergrowth. It was clear that cars and people from outside rarely traveled in this direction, but they could roughly see a path.
Zhuo Yun craned his neck out the car window. He had suspected more than once that the navigation system had made a mistake. The further they went in, the denser the forests on both sides of the path became.
It was clearly not even evening time yet, but the forest canopy was starting to block out the light making the surroundings dark. Also, they lost signal the moment they entered the area. It was starting to feel a little spooky to him.
“Erm… Are we even at the right place?” Zhuo Yun was already driving very slowly. As he spoke, he swiped the GPS map on his phone.
Even though the rough location could be established using the map, the place was simply too remote. After driving around a few times, they were still unable to find the exact location.
It was not half as bad driving in the rainforest the last he remembered.
“This is strange. I get it if there’s no signal out here, but why is the compass failing as well?” said Myron quizzically.
When they exited the highway, he had already noticed this problem.
“He’s right. It just doesn’t work. This is starting to feel spooky.” Zhuo Yun tapped on the compass application on his phone as he spoke. He could not help imagining that there was a supernatural reason for this and promptly got goosebumps.
“It might be something to do with magnetic field interference.” Myron rapped his knee gently as he pondered.
Huo Yao looked up slightly listening to Myron but did not interrupt.
He was spot on. After entering the place, all signals got disrupted by the magnetic fields.
“Magnetic fields?” Zhuo Yun turned to glance at Myron quizzically.
That place was so remote. How could it get affected by magnetic fields?
“Magnetic fields can affect navigation systems and the same goes for signals,” explained Myron. “You were unable to find the plane location probably due to the magnetic field interference.”
As he spoke, something struck Myron. He reached his hand out to tap on the touchscreen in the car.
The screen promptly changed the moment he tapped on the normal map mode. After looking at the map intently, Myron confirmed it was exactly the same as the map in his mind.
A few years ago, he saw a high-precision map simulation in Mirage Base’s secret chamber. At that time, he wondered where it was.
He especially tried to find the place after leaving Mirage Base but to no avail. It seemed as though the place did not exist at all. Eventually, he forgot about it.
From the looks of it now, he was already at the place appearing on the map.
Myron narrowed his eyes and blew up the map again. After a few seconds, he raised his head to look straight ahead and said, “This is the right path. If we keep going, we should reach the village very soon.”
“Why are you so sure, Mr Myron?” Zhuo Yun saw Myron’s reaction, so he had questions.
Myron glanced into the rearview mirror and spoke candidly, “Mirage Base has a secret chamber. Inside, there’s a high-precision map simulation of this place.”
