Chapter 342 - The Smug Director Zhang
I Am A Prodigy
Chapter 342 The Smug Director Zhang
Ye Lingchen’s actions immediately drew everyone’s attention.
“Mr. Y, are you really not going to eat?”
“I’ll wait for dinner,” Ye Lingchen said.
“Y, are you ready to complete the task? We have rice, sweet potatoes, and bread. If you’re lucky, you might even find corn.” Zhang Yong was tempted.
However, Ye Lingchen still refused. He walked toward the depths of the forest with the dried anchovies.
Hmm?
Everyone was slightly surprised. What did that mean?
The camera was already behind Ye Lingchen. The others looked at each other and eventually followed behind curiously.
“Y, where are we going?” Chen Xiaoyan could not help but ask. She was still holding the potato chips that Arnelle brought, but she did not eat them because Ye Lingchen was not eating.
“Do you want to eat meat?” Ye Lingchen asked with a smile.
Eat meat?
Everyone looked at Ye Lingchen in surprise. They wanted to eat meat of course, but…where would they find any meat there?
Even the director could not get meat, right?
“Yes! Mr. Y, I’d like to eat meat!” Arnelle said immediately and continued, “Did you secretly bring the meat over?”
“Of course not. But I can get us meat!” Ye Lingchen smiled inexplicably.
“Brother Y, you don’t have to speak in riddles. The more you talk about it, the greedier I become. How can we possibly get meat?” Dalei asked eagerly. He was really hungry, and he missed the times when he had something to eat.
“There are pheasants in this mountain!” Ye Lingchen spoke very determinedly.
“Oh f*ck! Are you for real? I didn’t even see a shadow when I wandered around.” Brother Yang could not help but voice out. The others looked at Ye Lingchen one after another. How did he know there were pheasants in the mountains?
“I discovered it by accident while preparing the materials for the house.” Ye Lingchen smiled. “Pheasants are very alert and it’s normal that they avoid humans.”
Everyone followed Ye Lingchen to the depths of the jungle before stopping.
“Take a look at what this is.” Ye Lingchen pointed to one spot.
Everyone looked up. At first glance, their eyes lit up, and Dalei even said, “This should be animal feces!”
“These are fowl feces, and if you look at the messy leaves on the ground, there’s definitely more than one!” Ye Lingchen said with a smile.
“F*ck! We struck gold! We struck gold!” Dalei gulped heavily and his face was flush, as though he could already smell the aroma of pheasant meat.
The audience in front of the TV was also stunned by Ye Lingchen. Such analysis was simply outstanding!
[66666, Y is so amazing. He could discover it just like that?]
[Observation! Why do I feel that throughout this whole thing, Y is pretty much on a holiday tour instead of being deserted on an island!]
[Previous poster, I feel the same way too! Y is practically a man of the wild. So amazing!]
[Wait, why are these pheasant feces?]
[Even if there are pheasants, it will certainly be difficult to catch. I heard that pheasants can fly!]
…
“But… How should we catch them?” Arnelle asked.
“By setting a trap,” Ye Lingchen said casually, as if talking about something mundane and ordinary. He had already started when he said that.
“According to my observations, this should be the place where pheasants are often active. The probability of catching them is extremely high!”
He took the materials from around and arranged a simple trap. Then, he opened the packet of dried anchovies and placed it in the trap.
Everyone realized that Ye Lingchen had decided from the outset to use dried fish as bait.
How did he know that pheasants frequented that area? Besides, was he sure that pheasants would eat dried anchovies?
“Okay. Let’s wait for an hour and come back again.” Ye Lingchen clapped his hands and remained as indifferent as ever.
Everyone looked at the trap with anxiety and anticipation. Could that trap really catch pheasants? It looked too simple!
He subsequently brought the crowd away, and along the journey, he picked some special flowers and plants, and cut down some bamboo again. He sat down, then cut the side of the bamboo with his machete.
What was that for?
With Ye Lingchen, everyone felt that their IQ was insufficient as if they were not even on the same level.
Even Zhang Yong shook his head constantly. He felt bitter but happy at the same time.
The bitterness was because Ye Lingchen did not follow the script at all. It was impossible to keep up with Ye Lingchen’s brain circuits. On the flip side, he was glad because Ye Lingchen was clearly intriguing the audience, thus causing the number of online viewers to grow exponentially.
[Hahaha, I laughed myself to death! This group of people all look so blank! Like they’re filled with the desire for knowledge.]
[It’s scary. Through them, I see the horrors of ignorance.]
[Previous poster, you seem to understand this very well. What’s Y going to do now?]
[Oh, of course…I don’t understand…]
[I feel like it’s the kind of feeling where a father leads a group of children. Y is really putting in a lot of effort for everyone!]
…
Ye Lingchen first chopped the bamboo, then looked at the sky before crushing the flowers and plants he had picked earlier.
He stood up only when everything was ready.
However, he saw Dalei and others gulping down saliva frantically. They were staring at the show crew.
The program crew had already started eating, and it was unknown whether they did that intentionally or otherwise. As they ate, they even showed off their treasured food in front of everyone, producing looks of enjoyment on their faces.
“Slurp!”
Zhang Yong buried his head and drank a big mouthful of porridge. He then walked to the crowd with a bun in one hand.
“So good, so good!” Zhang Yong narrowed his eyes in utter satisfaction and looked askance at Ye Lingchen and the others. “A bowl of hot rice congee at night warms the stomach. Ahhh, I feel like life has reached its peak.”
“Director, this is too much!” Dalei pouted and his tone was sour.
“It’s not my place to say anything, but even if you can really catch those pheasants, it’s not enough to divide among the six of you! Hurry up and do the task now, or we’ll finish all the food! Muahaha…” Zhang Yong smiled and persuaded them earnestly.
Arnelle and the others pouted. They could not help but turn away—out of sight, out of mind.
“Director Zhang, the corn is ready to be served!” the program crew shouted.
“Come on then!” Zhang Yong laughed. He held corn in one hand and steamed buns in the other, thoroughly enjoying his food.
Arnelle’s eyes were red and she glared fiercely at the program crew. “Mr. Y, what’s going to happen to us at night. We’re hungry.”
“Grumble!”
Dalei’s face turned red and he looked at everyone with embarrassment. “My stomach can’t hold it anymore. I’m so hungry.”
“Relax, I won’t let you go hungry!” Ye Lingchen shook his head amusingly. He held the bamboo in one hand and walked toward the beach.
What was he going to do again?
Everyone’s eyes, including those from the program crew, followed Ye Lingchen unwittingly.
They then saw Ye Lingchen take off his shoes and his shirt before walking toward the sea.
It was already six o’clock in the afternoon by then. The sun lost its dazzling brilliance and had turned red. The distant sky was dyed golden yellow, and it was offset against the sea. Sunset connected heaven and earth, making for a spectacular scene.
However, when everyone saw the figure standing in the sea under the setting sun, their pupils expanded continuously and their mouths were agape…
