Chapter 391
Commanding Wind and Cloud
Chapter 391: Secrets
“Brother Qian Jin, finally we meet! Thank you for not killing me there.” The girl’s arrogance had long disappeared. She stretched out the lotus-root like arm and fixed her large limpid eyes on Qian Jin. “See? There’s bruising! You must compensate me.”
What? Qian Jin was stunned. Didn’t this girl know what he had done in the Qian Family?
Jun Wudo pointed at the floor, suggesting for Qian Jin to sit. He asked, “Kid, you have an uncle, right?”
Qian Jin stared at this man in blank dismay. If not for that scar and the Mafia identity, he did look like his father…
“You… you …” Some warm feelings suddenly surged up in Qian Jin’s heart. But there was also fear as he hated disappointment.
“I am your uncle.” Jun Wudo couldn’t keep clam anymore. He looked so thrilled and happy, looking forward to Qian Jin recognizing him. “I am your uncle, Qian Zheng!”
“And me!” The girl also sat down and looked at Qian Jin in a joyful face. “I am your cousin, Qian Nianchen.”
Right! She was an Elf King but she didn’t know the Unique Bloodline Fighting Technique of the Qian family. There was only one possibility that she wasn’t from Qian Family!
Qian Jin was stunned. He couldn’t believe it! His uncle, the wandering knight who had long been gone from the Qian Family, now stood there, in front of him.
“You little bastard! You don’t believe me?” Jun Wudo clung on to Qian Jin’s arms for fear he would run because of this seemingly earth-shattering news. “My brother’s name is Qian Cheng. Like many of our ancestors, he lives in the outer layer in the Qian Family. He has a red birthmark on his back, which looks like the word [King]! People all laugh at him because of this.”
Qian Jin couldn’t utter a word. The birthmark had never been a secret to the Qian members. But outside of the family, no one bothered to pay any attention to a man that lived in the outer layer.
Qian Jin once again turned to the pretty girl for a closer look. He could surely see some similarities to Jun Wudo.
The Qian Family would never foster a non-bloodline warrior because they had bountiful resources that seemed virtually inexhaustible.
Yes! Qian Jin finally confirmed this underworld king in Yulee was his uncle.
It was the only explanation why he would help to screw Xander over back at the auction meeting. Qian Jin had never met him before that time.
After the meeting, he sent that wand to Gabriella. He could have sold it back to the Crystal Magic Tower at a respectable price. The Crystal Magic Tower would be willing to regain that magic wand of inestimable value. It would only take a nod for Jun Wudo to get a huge amount of money. But he didn’t!
He finally straightened out all the clues. Thinking back, no one knew him before he set foot in this city. No one knew he could forge. No one wanted to draw him in.
It was this dominating underworld ruler that had offered his help for no apparent reason.
“Uncle…”
“Good boy!” Jun Wudo nodded hard, trying desperately to hold back his tears. “I say, we finally meet. You don’t know that I have secretly been back to the Qian Family many times. You may not know me but I do know you very well.”
“If so…my father…” Qian Jin tensed up and asked, “Did he know that?”
“Of course he did,” said Jun Wudo, with a gentle sigh, “and only he.”
Qian Jin was gratified. Father had seen his brother more than a few times. That’s good news. If he hadn’t known his presence…
“I planned to pick up both of you.” Jun Wudo looked up at the ceiling. “But our parents were still there, unwilling to leave that family. All their life, they were fighting for those bloodline warriors. Your father stayed, to take care of them and you so you could grow up joyous and carefree to participate in that God damn awakening ceremony.”
Sitting there calm and quiet, Qian Jin lost himself in the past times. “Your father has my utmost respect but he’s also my biggest regret. He would have a better job If not for my imperiousness…”
Qian Jin bowed his head and wiped away his tears. He also felt guilty for being so selfish and self-willed. Otherwise, Qian Cheng would not be reduced to a groom.
He might have become a manager already if Qian Jin hadn’t left. But… Qian Jin knew his father would not want this… He hated those people… He wouldn’t want his son to stay there just for a better material life… He’d have died of shame.
“You know, after you left a few days ago, I went back there once.” Jun Wudo said in reverence. “Your father told me that he didn’t care how the Qian Family treated him though he had offered service to those bastards all his life. But he couldn’t stand them humiliating you like that. No matter how unwilling you were, he would find a rattan to chase you away.”
What? Qian Jin was dumbfounded by the thought of his father. Thinking back, what had he done for his father?
“Your father loves you.” Jun Wudo gently stroked the head of Qian Jin. “Every year when your birthday came, I would sneak back as soon as possible. I saw how hard he tried to get you a birthday gift.”
“Uncle…Don’t…” After a silent moment, his heart overflowed, and he gave way to a flood of tears.
All his life long, he had only thought about himself! He could badger Qian Cheng with a birthday gift for a whole day… But… Qian Jin raised his head, trying to stop the tears… He had never thought of getting a birthday gift for his father… He even hadn’t spent much quality time with his father…
“Were there a few times when you woke up and found some new books beside your pillow?”
Qian Jin thought for a while and nodded. Those books had played a fundamental role in his decision to leave the Qian Family.
“I put them there, while you were asleep.” Jun Wudo patted Qian Jin on his shoulder. “Fortunately, you didn’t let me down.”
The unexpected dinner brought Qian Jin his uncle who he had heard of but never met before. This uncle even had a daughter with naturally-awakened Elf King Bloodline power!
It was like a dream. But everything Jun Wudo said checked with the facts. He wasn’t persuading Qian Jin to believe his story but just being a caring uncle.
After a little bit of house cleaning, the three sat at the dinner table. Looking at the simple home-cooked meal, Qian Jin had felt the warmth of family for the first time in so many years.
During the dinner, Jun Wudo asked a few questions and sometimes he would murmur to himself about what he had gone through after he left. Whenever Qian Jin came out with an answer, he would laugh out like a child.
When the dinner was over and the dishes were cleared from the table, Jun Wudo wiped his mouth with the napkin. He readjusted his sitting posture and looked at Qian Jin in a serious expression. “Son, watch your back these days.”
Huh? Qian Jin pondered over the words and the Torrent Ten Warriors who had followed him here… It seemed…
“Yes! The Rays approached me…” Suddenly a deep gloom crept on the man’s face. “They paid me to kill you. But those bastards. They didn’t know you are my nephew. So I took the money and sent them back.”
“Huh?” Qian Jin looked at his uncle with uncertainty without knowing what to say.
“Exactly! Double-crossed!” Now happiness was added to the gloomy face. “This is the real dog-eat-dog world! He wanted me to kill you, but he knew nothing about us. So, I got a bargain! It was also because of this that I wanted to tell you who I really am.”
“I wanted to wait for a little while so you could mature a bit more.” Jun Wudo tapped the table with his fingers. “After all, Nianchen is a girl. Although she has awakened the Elf King Bloodline Power, she experienced few real fights! And she is not suitable…”
Qian Jin nodded with approval. Nianchen surely possessed some combat ability but she was as innocent as a newborn baby. She would not grow up if she hadn’t suffered some real loss.
But who could bear seeing his children suffer? Qian Jin shook his head at this possibility. If he had a daughter, he would wish her safety and peace. Innocence and happiness were the best companions!
“In these years, I have paid close attention to you.” Jun Wudo got up, walked behind Qian Jin and patted his shoulders. “You are better than me! I was struggling on the Human-Demon Battlefront when I was in your age. You have experienced a lot and suffered a lot. You are much more mature than my girl.”
“Dad… I’m also good, okay?” Qian Nianchen pouted and complained. “I have done a lot for you, haven’t I?”
The domineering arrogance had long been gone when Jun Wudo stroked the hair of Qian Nianchen. He was just a loving father in front of his daughter. “You are good, but still not as good as your cousin, right?”
The girl thought for a while and gave a thumbs up. “That’s true! Qian Jin, you are not a bloodline warrior, but you are much stronger me!”
“I will getting old, actually, I’m aging already.” Jun Wudo sank back to his spot. “Someone has to take Wudo Group from me. I heard what you have done in the Qian Family. Qian Zhanxuan, that son of a bitch! Do you want to take your father out? You need strength and force!”
