Physician’s Odyssey
Chapter 763 - Career Outline
Xiao Jingjing gave an overseas call to Su Tao, informing him that she had already settled down Lisa, who came from Russia. Su Tao lamented that Lisa was a few days late or he would have brought her on this trip to expand her horizon.
Lisa was a model who had undergone professional training, not to mention that she was gifted with a good figure. As long as she was given a good platform, who knows, she might create a miracle.
“Take some time out and bring her around Huainan Province and let her experience the environment in China.” Su Tao instructed.
When Xiao Jingjing heard that, she briefly hesitated before she suggested, “How do I have that time? Why don’t I get someone else to do it, instead?”
Su Tao smiled. Xiao Jingjing was truly a responsible lass. She practically did not take any leave for the entire year. Then again, Su Tao knew that it had something to do with her past experience, so he persuaded, “I’m now putting you on an annual holiday. There are so many people in Three Flavour Hall, and you don’t have to personally do everything yourself. You can just hand some administrative matters to Chen Defeng. He has years of experience when it comes to administration, so it’s fine for you to take five to six days of leave.”
Ever since the previously complaint he had being resolved by Su Tao, Chen Defeng had changed himself out of gratitude and treated Three Flavour Hall as his family. If he was only putting 90% in the past, he was practically giving his 120% right now. It was a change that everyone in Three Flavour Hall had witnessed.
The hearts of Three Flavour Hall’s employees were firmly tied together since Su Tao showed them that he’s unlike other bosses when it comes to management. He had treated everyone as his family, and he wouldn’t fire them because of a small mistake. To protect his employee’s dignity and reputation, he would even appear to be biased and protective.
“Alright, I’ll take three days of leave, then!” Xiao Jingjing nodded her head despite her reluctance after seeing Su Tao’s insistence.
After a brief pause, Su Tao smiled. “Oh, right. This years’ Physician King Tournament will soon take place, and I’ve decided to sign you up for it. So after your leave, you have to start making preparations for it and undertake special training. I don’t need you to take the championship, but you must bring honour to Three Flavour Hall.”
Xiao Jingjing was surprised. She never imagined that Su Tao would get her to participate in the Physician King Tournament.
“M-Master, a-am I capable e-enough?” She stuttered.
She was just someone who had graduated from university. She might be hardworking, but she knew that everyone in the Physician King Tournament were top-tiered talents in the TCM industry. Hence, she wasn’t confident enough.
“Yes. You’re my disciple, and I understand your capability well. You’ve made great improvements over the year. In the past, you only had a good foundation, but you’re now equipped with practical skills. You’ve been growing quickly, so why do you think I dared to hand the Three Flavour Hall’s headquarters to you?” Su Tao encouraged her with a smile.
Su Tao felt that young people should experience more stuff.
TCM might be a mess, but it had been steadily accumulating over time. If he didn’t set a higher goal for Xiao Jingjing, it wouldn’t be easy for her to constantly improve herself.
Furthermore, Su Tao had also considered the fact that Xiao Jingjing was a woman. She might have just graduated from university, but she would have to get married sooner or later at her age. Moveoever, her career would definitely be affected if she had a kid.
Hence, Su Tao had a thought to train Xiao Jingjing to a high standard in two years.
Truth be told, if Xiao Jingjing was compared to Mo Sui’er, who had obtained the third runner-up last year, they’re practically on the same level. Mo Sui’er was more talented, while Xiao Jingjing was more hardworking. In addition to the fact that last year’s Physician King Tournament was publicly known as the strongest batch, it wouldn’t be a problem for Xiao Jingjing to get into the top four, even if she couldn’t obtain the championship.
“I will do my best!” Xiao Jingjing’s eyes had turned red and she nearly teared up from Su Tao’s acknowledgement.
Su Tao and Xiao Jingjing were master and disciple not only in name, but also in reality. The two of them might be around the same age, but Su Tao had maintained the dignity of a master whenever he’s in front of Xiao Jingjing. Hence, Xiao Jingjing had always been looking up to Su Tao.
After ending his call with Xiao Jingjing, Su Tao gave a call to Cai Yan and asked her about the development of the branch in Japan.
Cai Yan had a great deal of complaints. After all, there’s a whole bunch of complicated procedures to open a branch overseas, especially a pharmacy. Since Japan did not have such a structure in the past, the Japanese government couldn’t draw up a standard and reasonable supervising method for the industry.
“Gu Yin has already talked to the Japanese government many times, but he couldn’t get it done. The renovation is already completed, and we even engaged a professional renovation company for it. We’re only lacking the formaldehyde process before we can open for business. According to Gu Yin’s thoughts, he wanted to skip through the government process, but I don’t find it appropriate.” Cai Yan sighed, sounding worried.
“How about this, let me do something about it.” Su Tao knew that he had to stand out at this moment as the soul of his business.
After he ended his call with Cai Yan, Su Tao fiddled through his phone for a long time and found Mamoru Onizuka’s contact. He initially wanted to use this favor when his medicine factory launched their products, but it looked like he had to use it right now.
Mamoru Onizuka had recovered well and he’s already no different from an ordinary person. When he heard Su Tao’s words, he locked his brows together. “It might not be easy to get this matter done because my country has once abandoned TCM. Although we’ve started to use Chinese medicine, we don’t have any professional TCM workers. Most of them only have a foundation of TCM, and like Amaki Hamasaki, they work for the respective Chinese research facilities.”
Wearing a solemn expression, Su Tao replied, “Senior Onizuka, you’re an extremely prestigious physician in my eyes. Don’t you want to see development in the industry that you’re working in? If Three Flavour Hall can run well, it might be a lighthouse for many people in the industry. Furthermore, a talent like Amaki Hamasaki shouldn’t just confine himself in a small room for the rest of his life.”
“I have already tried my best, but I can’t change the citizens’ view on it. Putting it in a nutshell, the folks don’t believe in TCM.” Mamoru Onizuka’s eyes lit up.
Although Japan has retained much of the previous culture that they had gotten from China, they had already abandoned TCM after so many years of western education.
“There will never be a breakthrough if you don’t try.” Su Tao decided to tie Mamoru Onizuka to his branch in Japan and threw out his invitation, “I would like to invite you as the honorary consultant of my branch in Japan. At the same time, I promise that Three Flavour Hall will treat all the physicians in Japan fairly. Anyone who has a genuine talent in Japan can take up a position freely in that branch.”
Mamoru Onizuka was briefly stunned since he never expected that Su Tao would be so generous. Letting out a sigh, he replied, “I’ll help you regulate it.”
Seeing that Mamoru Onizuka had finally given in, Su Tao was relieved. Mamoru Onizuka had a prestigious position in Japan’s medical industry, and he also had a good relationship with many people in the government. Hence, it might be a crucial factor to Three Flavour Hall’s development in Japan.
Furthermore, Su Tao had formulated a plan for Three Flavour Hall’s development in Japan. If he wanted to conquer this country with TCM, he would need to recruit and nurture more talents in Japan. Sending employees from the country over was only a temporary solution, he ultimately needed to rely on the Japanese to manage the branch.
Su Tao wasn’t only planning to have a single branch in Japan. His initial plan was to set up a pharmacy in places where Chinese gathered before forming it into an influence and spreading it throughout those countries.
Then again, it might need five to ten years of accumulation before he could achieve his goal.
Giving another call to Cai Yan, Su Tao told her about his conversation with Mamoru Onizuka. However, Cai Yan was still concerned since Gu Yin wanted Three Flavour Hall to be the foundation of all the Chinatowns in the world; she was worried that Gu Yin might oppose Japanese physicians to join in.
In the end, Su Tao gave a call to Gu Yin and the two of them chatted for a long time before he ultimately convinced the latter.
He only managed to resolve this entire matter after spending half an hour. Su Tao might seem to be someone who dumps work to others, but he knew that he had to stand out in some matters. Otherwise, the entire structure would be thrown into chaos.
Aside from the branch overseas, Su Tao also sorted out the pharmacies in the country. There were five branches planned to be launched this month, and according to Su Tao’s intention, Three Flavour Hall would first dominate the province city before spreading around.
The first batch of branches were all boutiques, so the employees were all famous figures in the industry. Generally speaking, Su Tao would first communicate with the locally famous physicians before using TCM as the focus and set up a branch for him and provide those physicians with resources.
Right now, setting up your own pharmacy was extremely costly, a huge investment with little profits. So generally, no one would refuse such a good offer.
Then again, Su Tao would send all the employees into systematic training to have a unified standard. Putting it in an unpleasant manner, it would be using enterprise culture to brainwash them.
In Su Tao’s framework of the branches, when there were five branches in a single province, he would invest in a regional headquarters. That headquarters would be responsible for procuring, planning, finance, human resources, and administrative management. This way, he would be able to guarantee regional development through those regional headquarters.
Su Tao had a complete blueprint in his mind since his development for the TCM industry wasn’t just to treat someone or get the citizen in an entire city to know his name.
He hoped to integrate TCM into this world, not only in China, but throughout the world.
When his doorbell rang, Su Tao opened the door to discover Gu Rushan standing at the entrance. She wore a fashionable blue pleated skirt that revealed her legs and her crystal-embedded shoes glittered. She wore heavy make-up, making her look bewitching.
“Are you interested in watching a fashion show with me?” Gu Rushan smiled as she waved the tickets in her hand and explained, “This is a famous international pre-heat fashion show, and I spent a lot of effort to get them. I only came to ask you about it because I don’t want to waste a ticket.”
“It’s my honour!” Su Tao had also seen fashion shows through the television, but they’re all edited videos. Hence, he was curious what a real fashion show looked like.
