Chapter 417 - Aftermath

The Mightiest Little Peasant

Chapter 417: Aftermath

Tang Hao was not too satisfied with the conclusion.

It would only be satisfactory if Old Master Song agreed to all three of his requests.

However, Old Master Song was a shrewd one. He did not admit to his grandson’s faults, and Tang Hao did not have concrete evidence anyway.

He could not directly oppose the authority of the Song family either.

He had to settle with only the first two out of the three requests.

As for how to save Ling Wei, there was still some time before the marriage.

Tang Hao was deep in thought on the drive home.

There was a roadblock on the road leading downtown. Fully-equipped military police were inspecting all the cars in both directions.

Too many things happened that day. From the gunfight in the cinema to the explosions and the intense battle in front of a residential area, each of those incidents was big news.

The Provincial City police force must be busy.

He checked the news on his phone. Indeed, it was the only thing that people were talking about.

Most of the people concluded that the incidents were terrorist attacks.

The cars passed through the roadblock, and they drove toward Grand Court Residences. They encountered several more roadblocks along the way. Everywhere in town, police sirens could be heard.

The mood in the town was oppressive.

When they neared Grand Court Residences, Tang Hao got out of his car and waved goodbye to the Taoist masters. He also gave them a few tens of jars of Divine Liquor.

After seeing the convoy leave, he looked at the empty streets and breathed a sigh of relief.

He took out his phone and dialed General Bai’s number.

The call was answered a while later.

“Hey, Comrade Tang Hao, what’s going on? It’s so late now, shouldn’t you be in bed?” General Bai yawned.

Tang Hao rolled his eyes. “No time to sleep! There’s a big incident!” He said candidly.

General Bai was shocked. “What big incident? Are you being hunted down again?” He said cluelessly.

“That’s about right! However, I’ve managed to settle it, but there’s an awful mess to clean up. I’ll have to ask you for help with that.” Tang Hao explained what happened earlier.

Meanwhile, on the other end of the call, General Bai’s mouth opened wider and wider.

‘What the hell? Assassins from all over the world, including those in the top ten, and… even Old Master Song is involved, and he went to Province Z?

‘That is a big incident indeed!’

“And you’re fine now?”

“I’m fine for now. I’ll have to rely on you to clean up the mess!” Tang Hao said.

“It’s good that you’re fine!” General Bai said, “Alright, leave the rest to me!”

After ending the call, Tang Hao walked toward his apartment.

He was not worried. With Ol’ Bai helping him, there would not be any more problems.

When he neared his residential area, he saw that the street in front had a heavy police presence. There were three layers of blockades, and police cars were everywhere.

Most of the houses in the residential area still had their lights on. Curious heads stuck out of the windows.

Tang Hao was stopped by the police as he walked over.

He gave them his name and identification document. The police checked it with the resident list and verified his identity before they let Tang Hao in.

Police presence was heavy on the street.

Click! Click!

Forensic investigators took photos of the crime scene.

Corpses were carried out. It was a spectacular sight when they were laid in a row.

“Tsk tsk! Another headshot? That must be some amazing gun skills!”

“Eh! I heard that there’s only one person who killed so many people. That’s incredible!”

“Heh! Huaxia, Dongying, Hindustan, Merrica, South America… they’re all here.”

The police officers talked with each other. They were amazed at the level of carnage caused by one person.

Many police officers stood in front of the entrance to the residential area. Tang Hao noticed Zhao Wuyang among them.

“Tang Hao?”

Zhao Wuyang was surprised when he saw Tang Hao. Then, his expression changed drastically. He quickly walked over and whispered, “Tell me the truth. Are you involved in this?”

He almost forgot that Tang Hao lived there. He went to Tang Hao’s house once too.

He knew that Tang Hao was not a mundane person.

“How’s the investigation going?” Tang Hao did not admit to it.

“Sigh! If we could find any clues, I wouldn’t have to ask you. The security cameras here and at the cinema had all malfunctioned, and there’s no security footage. There are witnesses, but we’re not getting any useful information from them.

“Don’t tell me… this is all your doing?”

Zhao Wuyang looked suspiciously at Tang Hao.

“This has nothing to do with me. Right, later, the military will come and take over the investigations. Don’t worry about it!” Tang Hao said, then went into his apartment.

‘F*ck! So it’s him after all!’

Zhao Wuyang stood there, speechless.

Police lines sealed up the entrance to the basement parking lot. However, there was no one inside. They must have already collected the evidence.

Tang Hao went past the police lines and headed to a corner.

There was a car parked in that corner, though normal people would not see it. Concealment spells and maze formations had been placed around the car.

He saw Liu Bingyao sitting in the back seat with her head lowered. She had fallen asleep.

Tang Hao smiled when he saw her.

Then, he felt very guilty.

He opened the car door. Liu Bingyao stirred and slowly woke up. She looked at Tang Hao with bleary eyes.

“Are you OK? What… time is it now?”

She mumbled and rubbed her eyes, which made her look especially cute.

“It’s all settled. Let’s go!”

Tang Hao held her hand and took her upstairs to his apartment.

He examined the door before opening it. Indeed, the door had been tampered with, and someone set up a bomb inside.

“Dammit, it must be that guy again!”

Tang Hao grumbled angrily, then disarmed the bomb quickly.

He cooked some noodles for both of them to eat, after which she went to sleep.

Tang Hao sat in the living room, took out pieces of raw jade, and started crafting jade talismans.

His car had exploded and all the jade talismans inside were destroyed. He had to craft another set and also buy another car tomorrow. After all, it was rather inconvenient to travel around without a car.

At about seven o’clock in the morning, he received a call from General Bai, telling him that the matter was settled. The army had classified the incident as a terror attack. In the meantime, they would step up the security in the city to capture the remaining assassins.

Tang Hao was finally relieved after hearing that.

Liu Bingyao woke up at about ten o’clock. Tang Hao went back to the university with her.

He met Teacher Jiang in the afternoon. She told him that her grandfather called her in the morning to explain what happened.

There was infighting within the gang, and the opponent wanted to use Teacher Jiang’s family as hostages to threaten her grandfather.

Now that the incident was dealt with, there would not be any more danger to Jiang Wanying’s family.

Her grandfather would be sending someone over to fetch them over for a reunion.

Her parents objected to the idea, but her grandfather was an overbearing person and did not care.

Teacher Jiang was rather frustrated about that. On one hand, she was curious about what her grandfather was like, but on the other hand, she would rather not be involved with Merrican Chinese triads.

The next day was the weekend. Tang Hao received a call some time around noon.
