Chapter 250: What Are You Going to Do About It?
The Devil Does Not Need to Be Defeated
Chapter 250: What Are You Going to Do About It?
“Roar!”
“Roar!”
A number of vicious roars suddenly came out from within the canyon that’s empty of people, echoing through the air.
Countless demonic beasts with sharp teeth, werewolf like figures, crimson yes, and sharp fangs charged toward a certain direction.
“Rip!”
Following a cutting sound and a quick flash of a sword, the werewolf charging at the very front was cut in half, spraying out blood everywhere.
“Rip!” “Rip!” “Rip!”
Shien stood in place with his Holy Sword in hand, swinging it at the werewolves pouncing at him and slaying them one by one and leaving their broken bodies littering the ground as well as covering it in crimson blood.
However, even though they witnessed their comrades being so easily killed by Shien, those werewolves didn’t feel the slightest hint of fear. Instead, they only got more aggressive, and their eyes turned even redder, pushing them to continue pouncing at Shien one after another as if attempting to bury Shien under them.
But within the next second…
“[Enchant – Explosion].”
An enomous magic power rose from the werewolf pack, settling into the air itself, quickly raising the temperature of the air and then, in the end, blasted out as if the air itself was exploding.
“Boom!!!”
A magnificent air explosion blasted out from among the werewolves, blowing all of them away and leaving them injured or dead, bloody and broken.
Immediately after, the corpses of the werewolves showered down from the sky like so much trash.
Not long after, all the werewolves were lying in puddles of their own blood. Not a single one was able to stand back up.
Shien was still standing in place, Holy Sword in hand. He didn’t have so much as a scratch on him, but he did have a frown on his face as he looked at the demonic beast corpses littering the ground with confusion.
“You noticed?”
Only then did Airi come out form behind with a satisfied attitude.
If one were to look carefully, there wasn’t a single demonic beast in the direction that Airi came from.
However, there was instead a massive pool of blood there, which made it obvious just what happened to the demonic beasts that tried to get at that adorable little girl.
They ended up even worse than the demonic beasts on Shien’s side, not even leaving a corpse. They were basically vaporized on the spoke, leaving only remnants of their blood.
Shien saw it. From start to end, Airi only blew some air at those werewolves, and then those werewolves were vaporized by the hot breath one by one.
Shien also recognized what that hot breath was.
What else could it be but dragon breath?
“Shit, she really is a little demon dragon, huh.”
Shien was stunned.
Although the dragon breath that Airi used wasn’t as powerful as what that half centipede monster used, it was unbelievably concentrated. It was like thousands, or tens of thousands of degrees of heat was compressed into that tiny breath. In the face of that, even divine steel would probably end up melting on contact, right?
And Airi was obviously only casually breathing. It was completely different from how that half centipede monster gathered up all the magic power it had to release its dragon breath. The sheer ease of vaporizing countless werewolves just by casually breathing was absolutely terrifying to behold.
However, rather than that, Shien is more focused on something else at the moment.
Airi was the same. That’s why she came here to ask if Shien noticed or not.
Shien obviously did notice.
“Those demonic beasts are acting way to unnaturally.” Shien spoke suspiciously, “To constantly charge over like they’re on a rampage like that and even completely ignoring their comrades being slaughtered. That’s way too strange.”
It seems like the rumors from outside were all true.
Ataru Canyon’s demonic basts really have turned extremely aggressive and dangerous. They’re now completely ignoring their own safety to just attack en mass without regard for their own lives.
That kind of scene is definitely a nightmare for normal adventurers.
Airi however merely calmly spoke.
“They’re scared, no, terrified of something. They’ve basically pushed to the edge already. That’s why they’re acting this way.”
Airi had realized the reason behind the demonic beasts’ behavior.
“Scared… Terrified… Pushed to the edge… Huh?”
Shien begun mulling it over.
That’s true. Looking back at how they continuously charged at him, rather than rampaging, it might be more appropriate to say that they’ve already lost all hope and was merely trying to find a quicker and easier way to die.
For demonic beasts to have been pushed to such a state. Just what had happened here?”
“Does this have something to do with that half centipede monstere?”
Shien quietly asked himself rhetorically.
However, Airi ended up answering that question.
“Likely.” Airi spoke in a sarcastic tone, “It’s still the same old method as always. I’m seriously tired of this.”
That girl obviously already knows something about this.
“… Can you say is in a way that I can understand?”
Shien objected like so.
“Never mind.” Airi humphed, “I mentioned this before, but this is the shame of the demon race, not to be shared with outsiders. It’s better if you don’t know.”
That girl still doesn’t seem like she wants to explain.
“Did you know? The thing I hate the most is people like you who hold back the details even when its important!” Shein said, dissatisfied, “Just for the sake of things being able to progress smoothly, can’t you give some more details?”
This is about the right time for some new exposition, right?
But the result is more playing coy. If this was a novel, it’d be the worst.
“You’re the one who keeps saying things that no one can understand though.” Airi scrunched up her nose, “Stop sitting around and lets get going already.”
With that, Airi started moving forward.
“Oh?” Shien stopped for a moment before immediately following. He then asked, puzzled, “Weren’t you acting completely uninterested earlier though? Why’d you suddenly turn eager about this?”
“You think I actually wanted to?” Airi spoke while in a bad mood, “Originally, I’ve already tossed this matter for someone else to deal with, but since I’ve ended up encountering it, I can’t call myself a demon if I don’t deal with it.”
“That big a deal huh?” Shien blinked a few times, “Fine, it’s not a bad thing for you to be a bit more eager.”
“Don’t go thinking that I’m going to be putting any real effort toward the matter with that little girl though.” Airi calmly spoke, “I only want to resolve the core of the abnormality here. As for the rest, you’ll have to deal with it on your own.”
“Tch, you’re still as disinterested as ever huh.” Shien tsked, “Fine, it’s not like I had much hope for you. You are after all just a little brat that likes to make trouble, so I can’t hope for you to act as reasonable as an adult.”
Airi instantly stopped moving.
Shien stopped as well following that.
The two of them glared at each other angrily.
“… I can’t pretend that I didn’t hear those words.”
“So?”
“For you to dare to call me a kid. Do you know the consequences of that?”
“So what?”
“Don’t challenge my patience. If I get mad, even my sisters will be scared.”
“So, what are you going to do about it?”
“…”
“…”
Following a brief moment of silence, Shien and Airi started opening up some distance between one another.
They were getting ready to have it out.
Just as the two of them were about to settle a winner between the two of them, a sudden faint motion appeared nearby.
Shien and Airi both noticed and stopped their playing around.
“Boom!”
The next instant, magic power furiously exploded out.
