Chapter 13: Taking the Hunting Squad Test

The next morning, Lin Xiao returned back to his usual daily practice while Lin Yun checked on the plant. The hole that Lin Xiao managed to make on top of the stone was good enough to store the water and allowed the plant to live. However, it was clear that the water run out very quickly.

"How much water do I need to give to this Five Petals Yang Flower?" Lin Yun asked.

Wenren Yu was already feeling much better and could walk around. He looked at the flower and shook his head. "Just leave it be for now."

"Do you want to gather herbs too?"

"Not in this condition."

Even if Wenren Yu wanted to, he still needed to rest a lot. It would be better for him to wait until the time was right before he headed to seek some herbs that was necessary for them.

Sua!

"I'm going to take the hunting squad test today," Lin Xiao informed his brother and Wenren Yu. "Don't go anywhere and don't let strangers come."

"There shouldn't be anyone who would come to this secluded place, Brother," Lin Yun said helplessly.

"I'll try to concoct the medicine first."

"Ah, I'll help."

Lin Xiao chose to let these two made the medicine as he rushed to the village. Everyone could take the test by the hunting squad every time they wanted as long as they have passed the basic requirement of reaching body training rank 5. Since Lin Xiao had passed recently, he wanted to test his luck.

The village was large because there were several fields. Lin Xiao had to pass several fields before he could reach the area where the hunting squad members usually gathered. There were only a few people who stayed there at this time.

"Oh, Little Xiao, you're here," one villager greeted him.

Lin Xiao nodded. "Is Captain Su here?"

"Captain Su is away. Why do you want to look for my brother?" a displeasing yet familiar tone sounded from the side.

Turning his body sideways, Lin Xiao could see Su Han walking to his direction. Dressed in another grand purple robe, it looked as if he was flaunting his family's wealth in this secluded village. With most of them could only wore dark brown robe that looked a bit worn out, Su Han stuck out like a sore thumb.

Lin Xiao grinned. "I'm going to take the test to join the hunting squad?"

"You?" Su Han looked at Lin Xiao up and down. Up to body training rank 5, the changes in one's body could be seen. It was clear from Lin Xiao's muscle that he had already advanced to body training rank 5.

Not only that, it was clear that Lin Xiao was fully brimming with power as if he was already at that rank for a long time. The thought only soured Su Han's mood, but he chose to push it all to the back.

"Are you sure that you can withstand the pain?"

"Why not?" Lin Xiao chuckled. He looked at Su Han with challenging gaze as if saying that no matter what, he would surely pass the test with no problem at all.

"You…"

"Are you afraid that I'll pass, Su Han?"

Su Han's eyes landed on Lin Xiao's red hand. After applying a bit of medicine, it was no longer looked as bad as yesterday, but the burning mark was still apparent. Grinning lightly, Su Han pointed to Lin Xiao's left hand.

"What did you do to make your hand burn?"

"Oh, I'm just playing with fire yesterday," Lin Xiao said carelessly. "Isn't it amazing that fire can be so warm?"

The others: "…" are you nuts?

Su Han was also dumbfounded when he heard Lin Xiao's answer and looked at Lin Xiao as if he was looking at an idiot. "Why do you want to play with fire."

"I just found out that you can learn to control fire if you train your Qi near it. Isn't it amazing?" Lin Xiao made up excuse.

"Is that even possible?"

"Of course! Why do you think my left hand ended up like this?"

Some people were skeptical, but some others were quietly thinking that they might be able to train their Qi like that too and probably ended up luckier. Little did they knew that Lin Xiao was only spouting nonsense.

"It's not possible to train your Qi outwards before you reach foundation establishment." A voice attracted their attention. They could see a man walked in their direction. His large body and presence immediately attracted everyone's attention. No one dared to mess around anymore.

"Leader!"

"Oh, Leader Su! I want to take the test!" Lin Xiao waved his right hand with a grin on his face as if there was nothing wrong.

The man, Su Hei, glanced at Lin Xiao and nodded. It was only a small matter because there were a lot of people who wanted to take the test every few days. He looked at Su Han. "You take care of it."

"Yes Brother."

Realizing that he was getting tricked by Lin Xiao, Su Han was annoyed. Gritting his teeth, Su Han pointed to the side. "Just take the test normally. He will monitor you."

"Alright."

Lin Xiao walked to the side with steady movements. He wanted to know what they were planning to do to make him fail. The leader of the hunting squad was Su Hei, Su Han's brother. Because of his age and poor performance back then, Su Hei failed to join Taiyi Sect and ended up staying in the village.

As the only youngster who managed to reach body training rank 8, he naturally became the leader of the hunting squad. Su Han, who was a few years younger and more talented, also joined and taught personally by his brother.

The test to join the hunting squad was always different each time. This was to prevent anyone from cheating because they wouldn't know what kind of test would be given to them until it was time for their test. The people here would randomly pick one of the few tests that their leader have prepared before.

"You can pick one of them."

There were a few tokens scattered on top of the table. It was used for the hunting test and usually they could pick by themselves. Each token looked exactly the same, so no one would be able to cheat unless they have reached foundation establishment since they could use their Qi to probe.

But then again, why would a foundation establishment want to join this kind of hunting squad?

Lin Xiao stretched his hand and picked one token randomly. His brows furrowed when he saw the word 'water.'
