Chapter 6
I Have Countless Clones
Strange Kid
At the end of the corridor, Gao Jun stopped in front of an empty combat room.
Just as he was about to open the door, the door of the room opposite suddenly opened, and a slim, tall young man walked out.
Seeing the young man, Gao Jun paused. He smiled warmly and greeted the young man, “Young Master Yang, I see you’re here to cultivate today.”
“Gao, you came at the right time. I…” The young man nodded lazily. Halfway through his sentence, he suddenly noticed Lin Shen and raised his eyebrows. “Who’s this?”
Gao Jun immediately said, “He’s here to apply for the job as a training partner today. I was going to test him.”
The young man darted around and chuckled. “Good. I just finished warming up and was about to find a training partner myself. Why don’t I give him a go?”
“Well…” Gao Jun looked hesitant.
“Then it’s settled!” The young man didn’t give him a chance to say anything else and made the decision. “What’s there to worry about? I’m not the kind of pervert who likes to torture and beat up their training partner!”
How could Gao Jun refuse after hearing that? He could only agree with a bitter smile.
When the young man returned to the fighting room to prepare, Gao Jun whispered to Lin Shen, “Young Master Yang is an important client of our school. You must be careful later. As long as you can satisfy Young Master Yang, you’ll pass the test!”
Lin Shen was sharp and understood the hidden meaning in Gao Jun’s words. “Is Young Master Yang very powerful?”
Gao Jun gave him a long look and said solemnly, “He’s at Level 7 of the Qi Transformation Stage and Proficient in the Blazing Sun Palm. What do you think?”
Lin Shen’s lips twitched.
That man could crush him!
Seeing Lin Shen was silent, Gao Jun thought he wanted to back out, so he immediately said,
“Don’t worry. It’s very normal for our customers to be stronger than their training partners. Just put on more protective gear later!”
After a pause, Gao Jun added, as if he wasn’t worried enough.
“I’ll pay you a regular wage for this session. It’ll be 500 spirit coins an hour!”
Lin Shen’s eyes lit up slightly, and he nodded without hesitation.
“Alright!”
Seeing Lin Shen had agreed, Gao Jun secretly heaved a sigh of relief and hurriedly brought Lin Shen to put on his protective gear.
After putting the entire cowhide protective gear on Lin Shen, Gao Jun still felt it wasn’t enough. He took out a few strengthened ceramic plates and inserted them into the special pockets on the cowhide protective gear.
This way, Lin Shen would have double protection!
Gao Jun sized Lin Shen up a few times and nodded in satisfaction. He then brought Lin Shen back to the combat room.
The combat room was very spacious and was nearly 200 square meters. The floor was covered with a layer of non-slip rubber, and the surrounding walls were filled with leather bags.
Yang Zhongyi was standing in the corner, hitting a human-shaped wooden stake. When he heard the sound, he turned around and saw the fully-geared Lin Shen. He couldn’t help but be stunned for a moment before bursting out laughing.
“Gao, you’re too careful.”
“I just want Young Master Yang to have more fun. You’re strong. If I don’t put enough gear on the kid, I don’t think he’ll be on his feet for long.” Gao Jun smiled apologetically.
Yang Zhongyi smiled indifferently and looked at Lin Shen.
“Ready?”
Lin Shen had already warmed up before he came in. Hearing what Yang Zhongyi said, he immediately stood on the spot more than ten meters away from Yang, and his reaction was his reply.
Although his opponent was very strong, Lin Shen was more than eager to try.
Yang Zhongyi looked about the same age as Lin Shen and was probably a student at some academy.
Yang had such cultivation achievement at such a young age, and Gao Jun had much respect for him. It was obvious that he was the child of some influential family.
Lin Shen had heard of the strength of such people in school, but he had never seen them fight in person. He had long wanted to see it with his own eyes.
Now, he could see the difference between him and these geniuses!
Noticing Lin Shen’s eager gaze, Yang Zhongyi was slightly stunned. Then, the corners of his mouth curled slightly, and he found the teenager rather interesting.
“Let’s begin!”
Yang Zhongyi commanded.
As soon as he finished speaking, he jumped out like a tiger hunting for food. In the blink of an eye, he had crossed more than ten meters. He reached Lin Shen at lightning speed and struck down.
A dull sound of air being torn apart suddenly exploded in Lin Shen’s ears!
Together came a surging heat wave.
It was the Blazing Sun Palm!
Lin Shen’s heart skipped a beat as he dodged.
However, compared to Yang Zhongyi’s swift attack, his dodging movements were much slower.
He only had time to half-dodge the blow when Yang Zhongyi’s burning palm landed heavily on his left shoulder!
Lin Shen felt as if he had been struck by the tail of a giant python. The strengthened ceramic piece stuck on the left shoulder shattered with a bang. He couldn’t help but take a few steps back.
Yang Zhongyi had long learned from Gao Jun that Lin Shen was only at the fourth level of the Qi Transformation Stage.
Based on his experience, an ordinary training partner at that level would be sent flying by his Blazing Sun Palm, even with the double protection. They would only be able to catch their breath after four to five seconds.
However, Lin Shen only took a few steps back, grimaced, and assumed a defensive posture again.
Seeing this, Yang Zhongyi couldn’t help but feel surprised.
This boy seemed to be more durable than he had expected!
Yang Zhongyi was instantly interested.
Since Lin Shen looked very resistant, he could attack freely.
Yang Zhongyi grinned and attacked again.
Continuous sounds of blows rang out in the combat room.
Under Yang Zhongyi’s storm-like attacks, Lin Shen could only parry and dodge.
Even so, he stood firm like a reef in a stormy sea.
Yang’s force was powerful enough to shatter hard stones. After being weakened by the cowhide and the ceramic plates, it could make Lin Shen stagger a few steps back at most. More often than not, he would only sway a little and adjust his posture before Yang Zhongyi attacked again.
Gao Jun was secretly speechless.
“How strange. He’s only at Level 4 of the Qi Transformation Stage, and it doesn’t look like he has practiced some technique that could enhance his defensive ability. However, he’s so resistant to beatings, and his tolerance level is so high!”
After the initial shock, Gao Jun couldn’t help but rejoice.
“Looks like I’ve really discovered a good one this time. With this level of endurance, he only needs to make a couple of breakthroughs and some training before he becomes one of our second-best training partners!”
In martial arts school, getting beaten up wasn’t enough for a good training partner. More importantly, a training partner needed to help the clients get familiar with their combat techniques, point out their shortcomings, and guide them to make corrections.
To achieve this, the training partner needed to be highly capable, and they must have excellent eyesight, react quickly, and have ample combat experience.
The training partner who could do all those things was usually the top training partner in a martial arts school and was well-respected.
However, their most important feature was still being able to withstand a beating!
If a training partner was beaten to the ground in a few minutes, how could they guide their clients?
