Chapter 526 - Anathema
I Am A Prodigy
526 Anathema
“Don’t worry about all that for the time being.”
The man smiled slightly. It was time for him to dangle the bait so he could get them to fall hook, line, and sinker. Money was set aside for the moment and he started to introduce his company.
“Our company has been established for five years and we’ve helped people find no less than three thousand pieces of lost items. Our purpose is to serve customers. We won’t stop until customers are satisfied. You can search online to see whether I’m lying. Our URL address is on the card. You can visit the site to have a look.”
“It’s fine, I believe you! Just tell me what needs to be done.” The old woman lost it completely. At that moment, all she wanted was to find her child and everything else was fine with her. As long as the child appears in front of her, she was willing to take out all her savings.
“Young man, speak directly. There’s no need to be courteous to us. As long as you can find the child, everything else is all fine!”
“That’s right, we all know there’s no free lunch in this world. Just tell us what you want.”
“If you’re really a detective, then it’ll be easy. Some detectives are very capable.”
“Spending your own money is always the most reliable method. If you want to depend on the police dogs to locate it, there won’t be even a sliver of hope.”
“I didn’t think about this before. I should’ve hired a detective in the first place. I wasted so much time!”
Everyone remarked in succession and stared at the man with lit-up eyes.
In fact, everyone had been paying attention to that man when he was talking to the old woman. At that point, they were highly aware of anything that had to do with children, more so when that person seemed very likely to help locate the child!
“I know how everyone is feeling,” the corner of the man’s lips seemed very cryptic. “In fact, I’ve had a dream ever since I was a child, and that dream is to help the world! I understand the feeling of losing a child, and to tell you the truth, it is my greatest hope that I’d be able to help you for free.”
After a pause, he sighed and lamented, “Unfortunately, I’m not alone in this company. We also have to fork out a lot of funds to find your children, especially with the use of high-tech equipment. They’re all costly, and I really….”
“You don’t need to say anything more! We understand completely! As long as you can find the child, you can name your price!” someone said immediately.
“My name is Liu Sanshui and I’m your humble servant. Thank you for your trust. I promise that I’ll do my best to help you as quickly as possible!” The man beat around the bush for so long before finally getting to the point. “The initial cost includes labor costs, technical costs, and getting in touch with connections, plus travel expenses for inquiring information. It’s a total of fifty thousand yuan, including the deposit, but I can personally give you a twenty-percent discount, so the total is only forty-thousand!”
“This is a picture of my child! I’ll transfer the money to you right away. Thank you!” someone spoke as soon as the man finished his sentence.
“This is a photo of my child. He’s the lifeblood of our family. Please help my family find him first.”
“What’s your bank card number? I’ll transfer it to you now. My child has been missing for five days, and I don’t know how much he has suffered, huhuhu…”
The scene suddenly became hectic.
The group of people had been immersed in panic, helplessness, anxiety, and worry, so they would naturally go crazy when they finally saw genuine hope right before their eyes. It was easy for people in such a state to lose their minds.
40,000RMB was not much for Capital’s citizens!
Under those circumstances, they would take out that sum without the slightest hesitation at all. Perhaps it was to make up for the guilt in their hearts for their children, or perhaps spending that money as compensation for their lost children would make their hearts feel better.
It was pitiful for those parents. That man has seized everyone’s thoughts and treated that group of people as his targets.
Evidently, he had been eyeing that place for more than just a couple of days. He even mistakenly thought that Ye Lingchen was in the same profession as him and came to snatch his business away.
“I have forty thousand yuan too!”
The old woman said and trembled as she took out a bank card with her hands. “I’ll get the money for you at dawn!”
Many people present there had cash, they took out the 40,000RMB on the spot and handed it to the man.
Liu Sanshui’s eyes glimmered and hints of joy were seen, but just as he stretched out his hand, he was grasped by a strong force that hindered his movement completely.
“What are you doing?”
His complexion changed and he stared menacingly at Ye Lingchen fiercely.
“To tell you the truth, I pity you more.” Ye Lingchen’s eyes remained unmoved and unsurprised.
“What?” A palpitating feeling surfaced unwittingly in Liu Sanshui’s heart.
“You happened to show up when I was in a bad mood and you have only yourself to blame for being unlucky!” After the words, his hand grasped slightly harder.
“Hiss!”
Liu Sanshui inhaled sharply at once. His face was red and his whole body was shaking.
However, it was not over yet. A wave of power, like iron tongs, increased its grip even more, making him feel as though his hand was no longer his own. Under the severe pain, he finally could not help but scream.
“Hey buddy, buddy, if there’s anything you want to talk about, let’s discuss!” Liu Sanshui endured it forcefully before lowering his head and whispering to Ye Lingchen, “Hey bud, we’re in the same profession. There’s no need to do this. We can divide the money equally.”
Seeing as Ye Lingchen still showed no signs of letting go, he hurriedly continued, “Forty-sixty split, you take sixty and I’ll take forty!”
Ye Lingchen’s eyes flashed coldly, then he raised his hand and twisted suddenly.
Crack!
With a crisp sound, Liu Sanshui’s hand was twisted up like a fried dough twist. Then, Ye Lingchen grabbed his other arm and twisted it the same way. Both arms dangled weakly on both sides of his body, with bones and muscles completely dislocated.
“KNEEL!”
Ye Lingchen roared, then slammed Liu Sanshui’s shoulder, forced the latter to face the crowd, and kneel down!
Those series of actions were done as fast as lightning. It was only when everyone realized that Liu Sanshui was kneeling that they came back to their senses. They stared at Ye Lingchen as horror flashed in their eyes, feeling as though they were at a loss.
“Do you know where this is? How dare you act so lawlessly in front of a police station? I’ll get justice!” Liu Sanshui bellowed. His face was warped by the intense pain and his muscles were twitching.
“So, you do know that this is a police station? How dare you scam people here? Who gave you the courage?!” Ye Lingchen’s eyes flashed with a cold light while a touch of hostility appeared in his heart. He felt disgusted looking at the guy who had the face of a human and the heart of a beast.
Ye Lingchen had always felt that the reason people were different from beasts was because they maintained a moral bottom line in their hearts.
Relying on incomparable sadness to deceive others without even the most basic of sympathy—could such a person be considered human?
Ye Lingchen did not have much dislike for scammers in the past, but they had become anathema to him!
