Chapter 2209.1: Golden Immortal
Mu Ge remained as frosty as before. She shot a look of ice at the aether immortal before slowly inclining her head. The four surviving august immortals relaxed slightly when they saw her nod. Aether immortals were the strongest beneath golden immortal. Their power could destroy worlds and as such, they were highly respected in Great Xia.
The four august immortals looked ruefully at each other. Who would’ve thought that such an esteemed personage would be present in this forsaken backwater? Thankfully they had an aether immortal among their number as well, or all would truly be lost this time.
“But a victor must be determined since you have come to Jade Ruins Realm. Shall we adjourn for another battleground?” Mu Ge proposed at an even pace.
The aether immortal’s expression froze slightly before he nodded. “Since the lady wishes it so, then Xu Chi will answer in kind. Let us head to the west.” He vanished into the western horizon before he finished speaking.
Mu Ge nodded at Lu Yun before streaking away in a ray of black light.
Everyone heaved sighs of relief to see the two aether immortals leave. Their auras were so overwhelming that the slightest twitch would obliterate all cultivators on the spot. Thankfully, they’d been conscientious of that possibility and hadn’t released their full force. Otherwise, the million strong army would be nothing but dust by now.
“It looks like we’ve underestimated the Origin Sect’s determination. They’ve even sent out their aether immortals.” Sui Wuzhou smacked his lips at Nalan Tu.
“Lu Tianling is the descendent of the Lus and once stirred up great trouble at the sect. We will naturally pursue him to the end for that.” Nalan Tu’s face darkened to see Lu Tianling hold his own against an august immortal.
“Is that so?” Sui Wuzhou replied with interest. “How about this, let’s work together. You can have Lu Tianling while we get his halberd.”
“Sure.” Nalan Tu arched his brow at Sui Wuzhou, giving the latter a bad feeling.
“Sui Wuzhou, this matter is not for the likes of you. I recommend you stay nicely put in Dark Orchid Empire.” Helian Shan’s black blade released pitch-black splendor as he pointed it at the man.
Sui Wuzhou’s mouth twisted. This law enforcer was different from the one of his memories. They’d fought each other to a draw before!
Helian Shan had been eliminated from the academy and was one of the weakest out of the eliminated batch. He wouldn’t have been assigned to Jade Ruins Realm otherwise. On the other hand, Sui Wuzhou had the help of experts and was among the upper echelon of disciples at the Dao Academy. Why wasn’t he easily triumphing today?
The other two enforcers were in much worse shape. They could barely hold off Nalan Tu and was absolutely no match for him.
BOOM!
Another explosion rang from the sky as Lu Tianling now faced four august immortals as a dragon of flame. Although he was on the losing side, his situation was much better than before thanks to Mu Ge killing one of them. At least he wasn’t scrambling to defend himself anymore.
“It looks like there is no need for us to fight any longer.” Sui Wuzhou put away his rod. “Our battle will not determine the greater outcome.”
He could not dictate the results, and neither could the law enforcers or even chief enforcer of the realm. The chief enforcer was only an empyrean immortal.
……
Lu Tianling’s halberd roared like a dragon. Countless fire origin gathered on him from the land, intensifying the flames around him.
Boom!
His full strength exploded when he fully turned into a man of fire. Caught off guard, an august immortal was blasted directly into the ground.
“Collecting the fire origin of heaven and earth…” Lu Yun took out a jade-green bow with a simple design. “Ah, I missed it earlier. Grandpa’s halberd isn’t similar to the sword pagoda, it’s the same idea as this bow, just in different form.”
Golden light flashed through his eyes—he’d suddenly discovered that the greatbow he’d overlooked this entire time also possessed a powerful core essence. Just like the halberd, it was something that he couldn’t fully see through.
“Master, I’m back!” Inky-green splendor flashed past Lu Yun as Kong Mengqian appeared in an outfit of black. “Wow, martial great-grandfather is amazing to fight four august immortals by himself! …hmm?”
Her expression froze as she stared fixedly at the jade-green bow. The true origin in her body from the Azure Emperor Chapter of Inception suddenly circulated many times faster than normal.
“Master, can I… take a look… at that bow?” Her voice shook from the strong desire rising from her heart. She must have the jade-green greatbow!
Lu Yun smiled faintly at his disciple’s dusty figure and passed the weapon of incredible might to the girl.
“Thank you, master!” Kong Mengqian quickly closed her hand around it.
Hummm!
Inky-green splendor flared from her body and shot for the horizon the moment her hand touched the bow. A ponderous vitality slowly grew in her being. True origin from the Azure Emperor Chapter of Inception surged. Kong Mengqian nearly instantaneously refined the ownerless bow as soon as she touched it.
It was like it was always meant to be hers.
Jade-green brilliance flashed through her hands as the weapon entered her dantian.
“How do you feel?” Lu Yun stood with his hands behind his back and quietly watched the changing girl.
“My cultivation… has reached combination stage.” Kong Mengqian opened her eyes. “Sadly, it’s insufficient to mobilize the bow. I have to be at least awakened stage to utilize part of its power,” she concluded sadly.
“The bow is yours.” Lu Yun smiled faintly. “Even if you can’t use it for now, you still have the stick of bamboo.”
“The bamboo!” Kong Mengqian started. She’d thought of it as an ordinary item all this time, but could something that contained an unparalleled method like the Azure Emperor Chapter of Inception really be a mundane item?
“How did your mission go?” Lu Yun asked his disciple.
“Master, I got it.” Kong Mengqian waved a jade seal into her hand—a spirit vein swam through it.
Before Lu Yun entered seclusion to refine the Shennong Life Restoring Pill, he sent Kong Mengqian, Bloodbath, and Gun Xie to the eastern, western, and northern capitals of Dark Orchid Empire. Equipped with jade seals, they were to retrieve the spirit veins beneath the cities. As the jade seals were refined by Terra Demon, they had no trouble claiming a few lower rank spirit veins.
Kong Mengqian returned first from the eastern capital. Given the winds of change blowing through Jade Ruins Realm, everyone’s attention was focused on Immortal Burial Valley. No one paid much heed to even Dark Orchid losing a few spirit veins.
It raised a small disturbance through the nation since unknown assailants had stolen their spirit veins, but the empire could only mutely bear the loss given current circumstances. Even the ninth rank cultivation empires would have to do the same, to say nothing of Dark Orchid.
“Not bad.” Lu Yun smiled at the addition of another spirit vein.
“The old lord…” Kong Mengqian raised worriedly to see Lu Tianling fall to the losing side against four august immortals.
“Don’t worry, grandfather’s fine.”
Lu Tianling chose to occupy a higher vantage point in the sky so he could threaten the army below at the same time. Although he was forced back at every turn, his defense and offense remained in perfect harmony. For every blow he suffered, he and the halberd grew more familiar with each other.
While Lu Tianling could utilize the weapon’s might, he hadn’t fully refined it. The issue laid with the level of his cultivation methods, not himself.
“It looks like I need to get a proper cultivation method for grandfather after this matter is over.” Lu Yun’s thoughts traveled to his senior brother.
Boom boom boom boom boom…
The immense boundary over Dark City shuddered.
“Your Majesty, our east and west gates are being attacked by an unknown army!” A heavily armored Lu Xiaochi flew to Situ Wenxian on the back of a lower dao rank flying sword.
“An unknown army?” Situ Wenxian’s face darkened. “The west… is probably Profound Wing Empire. How dare they!”
Profound Wing had once been a Darklake vassal, relinquished after Immortal Burial Valley appeared. To think that they would take advantage of the chaos and launch an attack themselves!
The current Profound Wing Empire was certainly no longer what it’d once been. Perhaps even the royal family had changed. How would outsiders give up on a nation that had something like the valley within its borders?
As for who came from the east… that was an interesting question. Lu Yun’s boundary was formed from the core essence of a tattered ninth rank immortal weapon. Anyone who could shake it and create such massive ripples was no ordinary character.
“Terra Demon, smack those from Profound Wing to death. Make it quick,” Lu Yun said before the emperor could give his orders.
