Chapter 1496 - An Lin’s Journalism Career

I Might Be A Fake Cultivator

Chapter 1496: An Lin’s Journalism Career

With respect to the Heaven Crushing Techniques, one only needed to remember the most important mantras, and the rest would be down to aptitude and diligent practice. Hence, even after the Ancient Dragon Empress had left, all of the Four Nine Immortal Sect powerful beings were still training conscientiously with no sign of slacking off.

An Lin made his way over to Xu Xiaolan with a curious expression. “What’s your Heaven Crushing Technique?”

Xu Xiaolan turned toward him with a cheeky smile on her face. “It has something to do with you, but I’m not telling you.”

An Lin’s interest had been piqued.

He was quite touched that Xu Xiaolan’s Heaven Crushing Technique would have something to do with him, and he followed her around everywhere, trying to grind her down and making her spill the beans, but she refused to disclose anything.

He had no choice but to turn toward the phoenix who was situated nearby. “Little Huang, what’s your Heaven Crushing Technique?”

The phoenix glared at An Lin with a haughty expression. “Chirp.”

An Lin: “…”

Alright, there appeared to be a slight language barrier here.

He gave up. He would just have to wait until the trial that would commence two days later.

During these trials, everyone had revealed some of their techniques.

An Lin was like a curious journalist, bouncing from person to person to conduct impromptu interviews.

“Big Brother Cheng, Big Brother Cheng, how do you feel about transforming from Ziggs the Hexplosives Expert to a self-detonating footsoldier?” An Lin asked.

Xuanyuan Cheng didn’t want to say anything, and he tossed a bomb toward An Lin.

Boom!

An Lin was blasted flying for several dozen meters.

He tumbled to the ground and just so happened to catch sight of Su Qianyun’s dress. However, Su Qianyun’s dress was all he could see as she was wearing a long dress!

An Lin looked up at her exquisite features and continued his interview, “Su Qianyun, Su Qianyun, you’re such a beautiful and gentle woman, how did you transform into a cold and emotionless killer?”

“Huh… Have I?” Su Qianyun faltered slightly before blinking her dreamy blue eyes in an adorable manner. “I don’t think I have. I still have emotions.”

An Lin nodded upon hearing this. Thank God Su Qianyun didn’t admit to this.

Su Qianyun tapped her chin with a finger as a faint smile appeared on her face. “It’s just that some trash does not deserve to continue living in this world, so they have to be eliminated…”

“Gasp…” An Lin drew a sharp intake of breath as a chill ran down his spine.

He made a mental note to himself never to get on Su Qianyun’s bad side.

The more simple-minded and innocent the woman, the more terrifying they could be!

He wondered where she had gotten these ideals from.

An Lin switched to another interviewee. “Yao Mingxi, what are your thoughts on being the only person to be rated as having ordinary aptitude among all of us?”

Yao Mingxi was already quite dejected, and he almost threw up a mouthful of blood upon hearing this. Why was his idol trying to rub salt on his wounds? No! He couldn’t let his idol look down on him!

He spoke with a serious expression, “I’m not the only one to be rated as having an ordinary aptitude. Da Bai is in the same boat!”

Da Bai shuddered upon hearing this. “Is this the game you’re going to play? Woof!”

An Lin shook his head upon hearing this. “Da Bai is a dog, not a person. Hence, you’re still the person with the worst aptitude among us.”

Da Bai: “…”

Yao Mingxi instantly broke down into tears.

“This sect is filled with freaks! How is someone like me supposed to even live? What can I do?!”

An Lin didn’t want to push Yao Mingxi any further, and he silently slinked away.

He made his way over to a white-robed woman scribbling a bunch of unintelligible information onto a table.

“Big Sister Bai, Big Sister Bai, your Heaven Crushing Cannon was really awesome! Is that the weapon the Purple Star Civilization used to blast a hole into the heavens?” An Lin interviewed in a quiet voice.

Bai Ling adjusted her glasses as a mysterious smile appeared on her face. “You think this thing can compare with the Purple Star Civilization’s ultimate killing machine?”

An Lin scratched his head. “Then, are you able to make that ultimate killing machine?”

Bai Ling shrugged. “Probably not. I don’t have the materials, resources, nor the manpower required to do so… Back in the day, the Purple Star Civilization had expended the power of the entire race, and only then were they barely able to construct and use the ultimate killing machine. How am I supposed to manage that all by myself?”

An Lin looked deeply into Bai Ling’s eyes. “So the answer isn’t no? You used the words ‘probably not’, which suggests that you know how to make it and would be capable of doing so if you had sufficient resources, right?”

Bai Ling pursed her lips and averted her eyes before she nodded.

An Lin knew that this was a good chance to have a heart-to-heart talk with Bai Ling, so he pulled out a chair and sat down beside Bai Ling with a curious expression. “Big Sister Bai, isn’t it about time you tell me about who you actually are?”

Bai Ling turned to him with a smile. “What do you mean? Don’t you already know? I’m the mastermind of the eightieth Purple Star Research Institute.”

“I would’ve believed you in the past.” An Lin chuckled. “But now, after thinking about it, I realized that it was definitely no coincidence that the Purple Star Civilization went extinct with you being the sole exception.

“The more I come into contact with the Heavenly Dao, the more I understand just how terrifying it is. The punishment delivered by the Heavenly Dao is inescapable. How can an ordinary research institute mastermind survive such a cataclysmic disaster?

“You’re no simple lucky survivor. You are most likely an extremely important person whom the entire Purple Star Civilization tried to protect! I’m even more convinced that that is the case after I saw how you break through the Ancient Dragon Empress’ heaven crushing true intent defense with the Heaven Crushing Cannon.”

Bai Ling glanced at An Lin with a faint smile. “What’s so out of the ordinary about my ability to break through the Ancient Dragon Empress’ defenses? Even your little fairy can do that.”

An Lin shook his head. “The Ancient Dragon Empress is no slouch. She’s the fourth heavenly disciple of the Heaven Crushing Sect and is one of the most proficient users of the Heaven Crushing Techniques.

“The fact that you can break through her defenses with heaven crushing power shows that you have already mastered the core heaven crushing technology… Furthermore, you also just told me that you have the skills to create the Purple Star’s ultimate killing machine. That means that the most important piece of technological knowledge in the Purple Star Civilization has been passed onto you.”

What was the most important thing in a technological civilization?

Not skills, manpower, or the environment.

It was the knowledge!

Bai Ling had all of the most important things that the Purple Star Civilization possessed. No matter how one looked at it, Bai Ling was no ordinary research institute mastermind!

After a brief silence.

Bai Ling heaved a forlorn sigh.

She turned to An Lin, and the smile on her face had been completely replaced by a solemn expression. “Do you really want to know?”

An Lin nodded like a bobblehead.

Bai Ling spoke in a faint voice, “Alright. All of you have given me warmth and trust, so I don’t want to hide things from you any longer.

“I’m not actually… a Purple Star citizen.”
