Chapter 44 - The Return Of Liu Yu
Hide in the Banished Palace and Level Up To A Big Boss
Chapter 44: The Return Of Liu Yu
“Leave!” The Senior Grand Elder roared.
“I’m not going to let them leave just like that!”
Li Mu flew towards the Xuan Sect’s disciples who were hiding in the distance.
The Senior Grand Elder Grand Elder’s hamstring was severed and he couldn’t run far.
And even if his hamstring wasn’t severed, he couldn’t have escaped anyway.
Like a predator, Li Mu rushed towards the disciples.
As his sword flickered, flesh and blood splattered everywhere.
“Ah!” The Senior Grand Elder looked up at the sky and cried.
He chased after Li Mu, but Li Mu was obviously much faster than him.
It was even more impossible to catch up with Li Mu now.
“I am going to kill you!”
The last first level Perfected Person from the Xuan Sect had been guarding the disciples.
Seeing that Li Mu was coming towards them to kill them, he immediately moved to intercept him.
In response, Li Mu activated the field. He swiftly froze his opponent, then cut off his head with his sword.
The first level Perfected Person wasn’t a match for Li Mu.
After that, Li Mu massacred all the elders and most of the disciples of Xuan Sect within half a day.
When he was done, he turned around and stood in front of the Senior Grand Elder.
“You can’t blame me for doing this! If I didn’t, your Sect would have slaughtered all my relatives. Many civilians in the State of Great Xia would die too.”
“Haha! You must die now!” The Senior Grand Elder laughed bitterly.
Immediately, his eyes filled with a murderous intent.
Whoosh!
A light flashed and Li Mu quickly backed away.
Throwing three swords in rapid succession, the Senior Grand Elder managed to land a long sword in Li Mu’s hand.
Quickly, Li Mu also threw nine swords.
Three of the swords slashed onto the Senior Grand Elder’s body.
However, the old man seemed to feel no pain. He acted as if Li Mu’s swords never hit him.
“You must be insane!”
Li Mu quickly dodged and the Senior Grand Elder’s swords all fell through.
The Senior Grand Elder was seriously injured and had no chance of defeating Li Mu now.
In his rage, he had many flaws in his swordsmanship.
Half a day later, the hamstring on his other leg was also severed by Li Mu.
“Ah!” The Senior Grand Elder yelled loudly with grievance, hatred, and anger intertwined in his voice.
He had failed.
His life was about to end, and his opponent wasn’t even seriously injured.
After another hundred moves, the Senior Grand Elder’s arms were crippled as well.
Unable to act, he could only watch as Li Mu’s long sword flashed towards his throat.
Whoosh.
Li Mu swiftly avoided the splattering of blood.
He watched as the Senior Grand Elder’s body fell to the ground and the light in his eyes faded.
Li Mu pulled his sword out of the lifeless body and left.
Just before leaving, he built a fire and burned down what was left of the Xuan Sect.
Even though it was already in ruins, Li Mu still felt that he had to set it on fire.
He wanted to burn the hopes of the Xuan Sect disciples’ that the Xuan Sect could be rebuilt.
“After all, many of the Xuan Sect’s disciples had escaped!”
In the Imperial Capital…
After being attacked by Xuan Sect’s disciples, the strength of the royal family was about the same as that of the Zhao family.
The war was now at a stalemate.
More than three hundred miles away from Mount Yan, a carriage moved slowly towards the Imperial Capital.
“Liu Yu, are we reaching your home yet?”
The curtain on the carriage opened, revealing a woman with a pale, beautiful face sitting inside.
Her hands were so soft and her skin was so smooth that it made all the women in the Imperial Capital jealous.
“Soon. We’ll be there once we cross this mountain.” Liu Yu pointed to the winding roads around Mount Yan.
Liu Yu had matured a lot in the past ten years.
Now, there was sharpness and hostility in his eyes.
His cultivation level was now at the fifth level of the Spirit Manipulation Realm.
After ten years of hard work, coupled with the support and resources from the Xia family, he finally had the capital to go home to see his mother.
Initially, when he had first found the Xia family, the entire Xia family was shocked.
First of all, they were surprised that Liu Ling actually had descendants.
Secondly, they were surprised by his skill level.
Even Zhao Wu from the Zhao family could not hold a candle to him.
The ancestors of the Liu family had once saved the lives of the ancestors of the Xia family.
And because of this, the entire Liu family was destroyed.
To repay their kindness, the Xia family found Liu family’s descendants and cultivated them, one of which was Liu Ling.
Now, a descendant of the Liu family was here, and he was so skillful. Naturally, they had helped him with his cultivation.
The Xia family were also very touched after learning that the country created by Liu Ling was called the Great State of Xia.
Since Liu Yu was so highly qualified, the Xia family naturally wanted him to be their son-in-law.
When Liu Yu returned this time, Xia Shiyin went with him.
Several elder brothers from the Xia family who had a good cultivation level followed them as well, using the pretense that they needed to protect their sister to see the world.
“Then let’s hurry up! I heard that people in the Xuan Sect have been killed by a lunatic. Recently, the South Continent has been in chaos,” the young man riding a tall horse beside of the carriage said nervously.
“What are you afraid of?” The young man at the front said. He had messy hair and was riding a little pony. “If that lunatic wants to kill us, do you think we can escape?”
“Second Brother is so wise!” Xia Shiyin let out a tinkling laugh.
“Hmph! If that lunatic came here, I’m afraid that Second Brother would be too lazy to fight him.” The young man that followed behind him sneered.
“Speaking of which, why did that lunatic appear in such a terrible place like the South Continent? And he got involved with the Xuan Sect!” Second Brother’s lazy voice drifted over from the front of the pack.
He was very curious, almost as if he wanted to go to the Xuan Sect and ask the man why, but was too lazy to do so.
“I’m not sure, but I think the Xuan Sect are truly done for.”
“The Xuan Sect has been in the South Continent for many years and their disciples are extremely arrogant. They will inevitably provoke people who shouldn’t be offended.” Liu Yu said.
He didn’t have a good impression of the Xuan Sect.
“Liu Yu, there’s another group of refugees in front of us. I don’t think they’re all from the Xuan Sect War!” Second Brother called out in shock.
They had come across several groups of refugees on their travels.
Some were escaping from the floods, while others were running away from bandits.
Yesterday, they had came across two groups of refugees escaping from the Xuan Sect War.
Some of the fugitive Xuan Sect disciples were going around killing innocent people and looting their homes, forcing villagers to flee in refuge.
“I’ll go ahead and speak to them.” Liu Yu rode his horse forward.
After a while, Liu Yu returned with an angry expression on his face.
“Second Brother, the Zhao family has rebelled. The Imperial Palace is in danger. I have to go back now.”
“Shiyin, Second Brother, take your time. Liu Yu and I will go back first. Let’s go!” The young man beside the carriage cracked his whip and the horse ran off.
In the blink of an eye, the figure disappeared, leaving behind a cloud of smoke.
Liu Yu and others were dumbfounded.
He was simply too impatient.
“Xia Wuji has always been like this. I heard he fights fast too!” Second Brother explained, then slowly waved his hand and said, “Liu Yu, go back with him. Shiyin will be fine with me here.”
“Thank you, brother!” Liu Yu immediately chased after Xia Wuji with a horse.
After they passed by Mount Yan, the two of them abandoned their horses and ran towards the Imperial Capital on foot.
By then, the horses had no energy left to run.
At this stage, using the lightness skill to reach the Imperial Capital was faster than riding a horse.
Soon, the two of them reached the entrance of the Imperial Capital.
At the gate, a row of soldiers looked listlessly at the passers-by.
The people entering and leaving the city bowed their heads and said nothing, eyes perplexed.
There was no talking or laughter.
In the Imperial Capital, there were very few people on the street and they all seemed to be hurrying around with a sense of urgency.
“Liu Yu, the Imperial Capital is different from what you described! It’s seems rather depressing.”
“Something’s really wrong,” Liu Yu said with a frown.
The Imperial Capital had never been this lifeless before.
A war with the Zhao family wouldn’t have made the Imperial Capital become such a ghost town.
Liu Yu stopped an old man passing by and asked, “Sir, what happened in the Imperial Capital?”
“No…nothing!” The old farmer glanced at Liu Yu, then turned and left quickly, as if Liu Yu had an infectious disease.
