Chapter 103 - Escape
Nine Star Burden
Chapter 103: Escape
The one-meter long scepter seemed to have no physical body and was instead just a virtual shadow. However, the scepter was actually inserted into the ground and had formed a small pit.
There was a gemstone exuding a strong ray of light on top of the scepter.
In the small cave, there were two Guardians Of The Night dressed in black and a team of four greenhorns who were dressed in white camouflage uniforms.
Of course, one of them, a young man, was not a rookie.
It was none other than the often smiling Hai Tianqing.
The cave was not large and was probably only about 30 square meters. It was irregularly-shaped, and there were three passages in the West, Southeast, and Northeast, which were guarded by two Guardians Of The Night and Li Weiyi.
One of the Guardians Of The Night yelled, “Let’s switch. The White Ghouls are here. I’ll go fight the mercenary corps there.”
“It’s alright, let me do it,” Hai Tianqing said before scurrying back to Li Weiyi. The sounds of the mud snake being slammed against Li Weiyi’s Black Shield could be heard.
The battle didn’t stay at a standstill for too long and Xia Yan was seriously injured.
She was considered a leader among her peers.
However, she was still a little weaker than the group of mercenary corps.
To her, it was not an equal battle at all.
The mercenary corps seemed to be good at using their advantages. At the next moment, several mud snakes suddenly appeared in the center of the cave.
They could easily destroy the team without even rushing in.
Fortunately, none of the mercenary corps attacking seemed to have the Gold Quality Star Technique, Mud River.
Otherwise, the team would have already been drowned.
She was clearly dominant.
“Teacher Hai, retreat,” Han Jiangxue said gently while pressing her body against the wall.
“Huh?” Hai Tianqing was covered with a peculiar ray of light. A torn up mud snake was about to rush into the tunnel to kill the enemy but was stopped by Han Jiangxue.
“Pretend to be injured and retreat to their blind spot.” Han Jiangxue turned around and said to Xia Yan, “Continue crawling here.”
Hai Tianqing backed away, and a mud thorn was driven down diagonally before brushing past his face dangerously. At this moment, several Mud Bombs hit Hai Tianqing’s body and exploded.
Hai Tianqing rolled backward and hurried to the side.
The mercenary corps did not rush out but instead broke the scepter that was placed in the middle of the cave. Later on, the mercenary corps entered, all geared up and on their guard.
He managed to see the ankles of one of the Guardians Of The Night through the narrow passageway.
He took a quick step forward, and when he was about a meter away from the entrance of the tunnel, he suddenly realized that he could not breathe.
Han Jiangxue leaned back against the wall and withdrew her Sky Smasher before carefully observing the surrounding stone walls. However, she also discovered that the mud beside the Guardians Of The Night was soft and surging as if it had turned into liquid.
It was not the Gold Quality Star Technique, Mud River, but there was already a passageway.
Han Jiangxue frantically waved her hand and Sky Smasher immediately landed on the stone wall.
The mercenary in Sky Smasher had yet to suffocate and die. When he saw the exit that appeared all of a sudden, he was overjoyed. However, he had no choice but to wander to the open exit because there was nothing for his body to leverage on…
A figure flashed on the stone wall and burst out with a swoosh before slamming against the mercenary who was trying to climb out. He then sprung into Sky Smasher.
“Go!” Hai Tianqing shouted, taking his team along with him. They were beaten up badly by the opponents whose advantages were way too great. The situation now was extremely tense, and even the White Ghouls rushing in were much stronger than the “Stinky Mud” White Ghouls.
The opponents’ strong advantage was also the reason the Guardians Of The Night were facing defeat.
Hai Tianqing nudged Li Weiyi along a narrow tunnel that was opened by the newcomers. Shrouded in gold, he was slammed hard against the ground.
Another illusory scepter descended and was driven into the tunnel behind him. This time, the gem on top of the scepter was blue.
The rays of lighting were emitted from the jewels above the scepter and maniacally surged in and out of the tunnel.
Han Jiangxue walked towards a Guardians Of The Night and said, “Hurry up.”
The two quickly ran to the newly opened small tunnel. Han Jiangxue did not forget to use Barren Wind at all and instead blew Xia Yan over from the ground.
Finally, the Guardian Of The Night blocked the entrance and prevented the White Ghouls from swarming in.
Hai Tianqing entered the small tunnel and finally realized what was going on. A sapphire scepter was inserted into the ground and blocked the entrance of the small tunnel.
The surging electric current ripped his body apart and he tried his best to bear with the severe pain and numbness. He then clenched his left fist and the people who were climbing in front heard the sweet sounds of Bell.
A ray of medical light bounced onto the Guardian Of The Night in front before catching up to the team consisting of Li Weiyi, Xia Yan, Han Jiangxue, and the other Guardians Of The Night.
Hai Tianqing’s body was numb and he was crawling forward while trembling and enduring the pain.
Another ray of medical light was emitted, and this time, he gave himself an Imprint, which caused the medical light to refract. However, it continued to shuttle backward and landed on a White Ghoul that was standing by the cave opening.
Hai Tianqing pressed one hand on the back of the Guardian Of The Night, quickly leaving a mark.
The ray of medical light refracted back and forth and was hung on Hai Tianqing. It then finally shuttled back and forth between Hai Tianqing and the Guardians Of The Night in front.
The Guardians Of The Night in front had already climbed out of the small tunnel and connected themselves to two mercenaries.
One of the mercenaries was carrying a Mud Shield and resisting the bombardment by the flames in front. However, he did not panic because he knew that the teammate behind him would definitely drown out the Guardian Of The Night who suddenly appeared.
To his horror, that guardian actually retreated!
He retreated to the left of the tunnel entrance and distanced himself from the two mercenaries on the right of the tunnel entrance.
At the next moment, the mercenaries felt like the space in front of them had overlapped.
Next, a gust of Barren Wind appeared all of a sudden and pushed him into the shattered space.
The Guardian Of The Night on the left side of the tunnel entrance tried his best to beat the mud climbing up onto his legs while the mud suddenly stopped moving as well. The Guardian of The Night looked up to see that the illusory figure of the mercenary was gone.
The two mercenaries had been thrown into Sky Smasher!
Han Jiangxue quickly climbed out. Despite being at a tender age, she was already in the Nebula Stage and had obtained Star Techniques that she shouldn’t have thanks to her parents. However, she was also put under pressure that she should not be taking.
The truth proved the importance and combination of Star Techniques.
If she were to use this Star Technique in the national high school league, her ranking would definitely be high, but she would also certainly suffer a jail sentence or even harsher penalties.
With such Star Techniques, her life would definitely not be peaceful.
“Is this group of people specially trained to attack this place? How can each mercenary be able to control mud?” Xia Yan lamented angrily.
Her complaint made Hai Tianqing slightly stunned. What she said might just be the truth…
