Chapter 1207 - An Insurmountable Obstacle

Fury Towards The Burning Heaven

Chapter 1207: An Insurmountable Obstacle

The Buddha Emperor, Yin Emperor, and the others only came together after the Buddha Thearch went missing. The Buddha Emperor’s powers were already seven-star. He was just one step away from becoming an eight-star martial artist. The Yin Emperor, Night Empress, Xuan Emperor, and the rest were not bad as well. Each of them was six- or seven-star Demigods. They each brought with them a group of Demigods as well.

However, Mei Ru’s demonic arts were frightening. Jiang Yi had a taste of it himself. The Buddha Emperor aside—even the Evil Thearch and Beast Thearch might not have been able to fend themselves against her. Thus, Jiang Yi could understand why the entire group of them became her slaves. As for the Buddha Thearch and the others, Jiang Yi guessed that Mei Ru would never have dared to attack them anyway. The Buddha Thearch was a nine-star martial artist after all.

The Black Sea Palace was in the innermost part of the Black Sea. It was not really a palace as much as it was a cave. However, the cave was beautifully decorated. From afar, they could already see the glow of the cave. There were hundreds of peak-stage demon thearchs standing guard outside the cave as well.

“Greetings, Thearch!”

Hundreds of demon thearchs rushed toward Mei Ru, getting down on one knee. All of them looked like humans. They had black full-body armor on and held huge metal forks in their hands. They also had two golden horns on their heads, making them look authoritative and scary.

When the demon thearchs saw Jiang Yi behind Mei Ru, their eyes widened in shock. This was undeniably a human, but he neither looked afraid nor confused. Instead, he looked like he was here on a tour. Could this human not be under her control? How could he be so daring?

“Mei Ru, your palace is beautiful.”

Jiang Yi saw the shiny big gate and praised Mei Ru at once. The demon thearchs became even angrier. All of them turned to Jiang Yi, looking nervous but ready to kill him. All they were waiting for was Mei Ru’s command. Yet, Mei Ru turned to Jiang Yi and respectfully cupped her hands. “Lord, you are too kind.”

After saying that, she turned to address the group of demon thearchs. “You’re still not greeting this lord?”

Plop!

The whole group of them was astonished. Still, they got back down on their knees and said, “Greetings, Lord.”

Jiang Yi did not even spare the demon thearchs a glance. Instead, he followed Mei Ru directly into the cave. There was a restriction in the cave, but it was a simple restriction that kept the seawater out. The inside of the cave looked more like a palace. The moment they entered, they found themselves in a huge, wide hall. It looked quite extravagant. Seven or eight scantily clad maidservants knelt by the main entrance of the hall. Jiang Yi turned and scanned them coolly. These maidservants were all humans.

“Buddha Emperor!”

As Jiang Yi scanned the hall, he saw a man with a bald head kneeling as well. That was the Buddha Emperor. There were ten or so other formidable martial artists around him, all of them kneeling. Their gazes were cold, and there was no sign of any emotion on their faces. They did not even dare to raise their heads. Truly, they were no different from slaves.

Jiang Yi shouted out in rage. There was a hint of a struggle in the Buddha Emperor’s eyes, but he only looked up at Jiang Yi in confusion for one second before he looked back down again, his eyes losing emotion.

“Uh…”

Jiang Yi muttered under his breath. The Buddha Emperor was a well-respected man in Jiang Yi’s eyes. Ordinary thearchs would never be able to subdue him. He would never have thought that the Family Head of the Yi Clan would become someone else’s slave, forced to kneel here like a dog.

The Yin Emperor, Night Empress, and the Xuan Emperor were all well-known throughout the East Imperial Continent as well. Just one single step from them could make people tremble at once. Now, every single one of them turned into slaves. Just thinking about it made Jiang Yi sigh helplessly.

However, he quickly realized that if not for the Fire Dragon Sword’s strong artifact spirit, he himself would probably have been kneeling here as well like the Buddha Emperor and the others. He too would have been Mei Ru’s slave, stuck in the Black Sea forever.

“Mei Ru, you’re not going to return to them their freedom?”

Jiang Yi’s gaze hardened. Mei Ru cupped her hands. Then, with a wave of her hand, everyone stood back up. She flew in front and became a phantom in mid-air. At last, she turned into a black arrow and entered the Buddha Emperor’s mind.

Tsk! Tsk!

Mei Ru moved quickly. In a blink of an eye, she emerged from the Buddha Emperor’s head and entered the Yin Emperor’s. Then, she entered the rest of the Demigods’ heads.

“Pfff…”

The Yin Emperor spat out a mouthful of blood. His eyes cleared up, and he blinked weakly. Then, he quickly turned to Mei Ru in a look of terror before realizing that Jiang Yi was there as well.

“Uh!”

The Yin Emperor, Xuan Emperor, Night Empress, and ten or so Demigods all spat out blood and looked at Jiang Yi in shock. Jiang Yi cupped his hands and smiled slightly. “Jiang Yi pays his greetings to the Buddha Emperor, Yin Emperor, Night Empress, Xuan Emperor, and elders.”

The Buddha Emperor did not respond. After a couple of seconds, a ball of energy lit up in his hands as he got ready to attack Mei Ru. There was hatred and killing intent in his eyes. At that moment, Jiang Yi quickly shouted, “Please stop! I have subdued the Chief of the Black Sea. She will not attack you all anymore.”

“Ah?”

The Buddha Emperor and the others looked astonished once more. Mei Ru cupped her hands and said respectfully, “Everyone, I know where I went wrong before.”

“Subdued?”

In a flash, the Buddha Emperor turned to Jiang Yi and sent a voice transmission to him: “Jiang Yi, you’ve made this demon sovereign a soul slave? Are you sure you’ve subdued her? This demon sovereign is way too strong. If you’re not sure, we should join forces to kill her.”

“Buddha Emperor, don’t worry. She really is a soul slave.” Jiang Yi smiled and turned to Mei Ru. “Go outside and stand guard. That’s right. Return all of those maidservants their freedom as well and then wait for my orders.”

“Yes, Lord!”

Mei Ru turned around and led the group of maidservants out. It was then that everyone faced Jiang Yi and sighed helplessly. They had come to the Black Sea before Jiang Yi caused a scene in the Evil Thearch City, and so they did not know what had happened since then. They also had no idea that Jiang Yi had been trapped by the thunder formation, and then he had killed the Evil Thearch in the Endless Deep Sea.

The Yin Emperor and Night Empress looked at Jiang Yi with mixed emotions. The Yin Emperor felt especially indignant.

Yin Ruobing was his favorite daughter, but Jiang Yi had stolen her from his side. The fact that the Yin Clan could not do anything to Jiang Yi already outraged the Yin Emperor. Yet, Jiang Yi was also the one who saved him today. That meant that he saw the Yin Emperor being captured as a slave of the demon sovereign. This caused him to feel both awkward and uncomfortable.

“Jiang Yi, you’re a Demigod?”

The Yi Clan had always been associated with Jiang Yi. The Buddha Emperor was also fully aware of what happened between the Buddha Thearch and Yi Piaopiao. Yet, there was no hint of discomfort. Instead, very gratefully, he said, “Not bad. You’ve become a Demigod! That means you’ve overcome an insurmountable obstacle. You’re still so young; you have limitless potential. It is all thanks to you today that we’re free. Otherwise, who knows what would have become of us?”

The Xuan Emperor felt perfectly at ease as well. The Ling Clan had no feud with Jiang Yi. The Xuan Emperor turned around to scan the Demigods behind him, then cupped his hands, and said, “Thank you, Brother Jiang Yi, for rescuing us.”

The Night Empress led her own Demigods to thank Jiang Yi as well. The Yin Emperor was the only one left who could not put down his pride. He remained silent.

Jiang Yi was not bothered, though. After all, this man was his father-in-law. He smiled and said, “Don’t stand on ceremony, everyone. I just got lucky. All of you elders are mighty and powerful people. You were bound to escape the clutches of this demon sovereign one day. Even without me, I’m sure you would have made it home safely.”

Jiang Yi’s words gave the elders their due respect and dissipated the awkwardness. Yet, this made the Yin Emperor even unhappier.

He thought that Jiang Yi was being sarcastic and mocking him. He looked down his nose at Jiang Yi coolly. “Jiang Yi, do you think our feud would be wiped clean just because you saved my life today? If you don’t return Ruobing to me, you will always be an enemy of the Yin Clan.”

Buzz!

At that moment, the Nine Heavens above the Black Sea stirred. Three forces of star spheres shot down and entered the Black Sea. At last, it entered Jiang Yi’s Ancient Divine Essence Ring in front of everybody’s eyes, causing them to be shocked into silence.

Jiang Yi used his divine senses to scan his ring and then jumped in joy. He turned to the Yin Emperor and said, “Hahaha, Uncle Yin, Ruobing has become a Demigod. She can come out and see you soon.”
