Chapter 697 - Never consider again

Boss Mo’s Predestined Love Brought by Surrogacy

Chapter 697 Never consider again

“Aunt Yan, are you ill?”

Mo Xiangyan, a sensitive boy, perceived that something was wrong when she spoke so listlessly. “Was she ill?” He couldn’t think of any reasons other than that she was not feeling well.

Hearing this, Mo Yichen, who was standing aside, was shocked. “Was this true?” His eyes kept staring at the boy as if he could get an answer quickly on the phone.

“I’m not ill. I stayed at home all day. Have you been good?”

When Mo Xiangyan heard that Gu Yan was OK, he sighed with relief. Even though he was still a little boy, Gu Yan felt that he behaved more like an adult at times.

“Of course, promise me to remember to have your meals and sleep on time!”

Gu Yan was deeply touched and gratified by his grown-up tone. “Why is the saying that a daughter is a warm jacket for a mother, but plainly the son provides warmth too, doesn’t he?”

“Got it! I will do exactly as you say!”

Mo Xiangyan smiled when he heard Gu Yan’s reply. His father and Aunt Yan were so attached to each other, so he decided to leave the opportunity to them and went back to sleep!

“Dad, here you are!”

He handed the phone to Mo Yichen, and ran off quickly without waiting to see whether he accepted it or not.

Mo Yichen looked at the phone in his hand. He could only take the call because the boy had spoken so loudly that Gu Yan must have heard.

“How’s your work getting on?”

Mo Yichen said this in a stilted tone and Gu Yan felt it as well. For the two people who usually could talk about anything under the sun, could there be a time when the situation became rather awkward, like now?

“Everything is fine. What about you?”

“Everything is fine, too. It’s getting late. You’d better have an early rest.”

Mo Yichen knew that they had nothing to say to each other. Hanging up early was better than trying to keep this awkward conversation going.

“Okay. Good night.”

Afterward, neither of them hung up first.

In the end, Gu Yan hung up first and then stared blankly at the phone for a while. It took her about ten minutes to come back to her senses.

“Forget it. It’s time to sleep. Don’t think about these things anymore.”

She set aside the pillow in her arms and went back to the bedroom. However, she tossed and turned, but sleep wouldn’t come. Her mind kept mulling over the awkward moment earlier.

Mo Yichen couldn’t sleep either, but all he could think about was the flirting going on between Gu Yan and Qi Changfeng. When he thought of that, he felt a surge of anger.

For that reason, he got up immediately and walked out of the room.

The living room was so dark that he could not see anything. Going by his instincts, he walked into the wine cellar, took out a bottle of wine casually, sat down, and started swigging away at the wine. The expensive bottle of wine was quickly drained. After finishing the bottle, he did not look for other wine.

He sat on the ground for a long while before he stood up slowly and felt dizzy. He put his hand on the wall, barely stood firmly, and stumbled back to the room to lie down on their big bed.

He mumbled incoherently. Nonetheless, even he was not aware that he was still calling Gu Yan’s name. It was obvious that they were two lovebirds, so why did they torture each other like this?

Gu Yan tossed on her bed, and was unable to fall asleep. It was as if she could feel him with every breath she took. Although the house and bedsheets were new, she could still smell Mo Yichen’s scent, which kept her awake all night.

She recalled their sweet moments together, and then her thoughts turned to the situation now, of the stifling silence between them.

Gu Yan’s heart was as bitter as if she had just swallowed some medicinal herbs. Compared with the sweet moments in the beginning, now the silence made her want to cry. Nonetheless, she didn’t, because she knew that she wouldn’t ever allow the relationship between them to end so easily.

At dawn, she fell into a deep sleep. After a while, the alarm clock rang. She wanted to go back to sleep, but her mind stopped her from doing this. From this day on, she would devote herself to her work and do what she needed to do. She would not allow herself to indulge in unnecessary thoughts during work.

She got up quickly, dressed, and took her car keys to go out. When she walked to the door, suddenly a thought struck her, and she went back to the kitchen to make herself a simple breakfast before leaving home.

She was aware that she was now alone in this house and couldn’t afford to take any risk. Now that Mo Yichen was not by her side, she had no one to rely on. Only when she was healthy could she be qualified to do other things.

After she went out, she discovered that there was a traffic jam. Indeed, bad things happened one after another.

She did not want these external factors to affect her mood. However, most of the time these factors always greatly affected her mood.

Gu Yan was stuck in a line of slow-moving traffic. She tried to remain calm and told herself not to be angry in this situation.

Finally, after half an hour of bumper-to-bumper traffic, she made her way to her studio. It was enough to make her happy when she arrived at the studio before going to work.

Gu Yan was the boss, so she did not need to clock in her attendance. When she entered the studio, her mood was the same as yesterday. Everyone was busy with their own work. When she saw this, she was delighted. Her terrible mood from the morning improved a little.

When everyone noticed Gu Yan, all of them greeted her with smiles. Unknowingly, she had a smile on her face.

After returning to the office, she remembered that she had assigned work to Gu Manman yesterday. It had been one day since that day and she was not sure how long it would take her to hand over the work that she had done.

She considered that the task assigned to Gu Manman was very basic. As long as she worked diligently, she would be able to accomplish it very quickly.

Qi Changfeng had spoken well of her before that, so Gu Yan trusted Gu Manman’s capability. She believed that although Gu Manman had not yet handed in her work, she should be able to do so when she arrived for work later.
