Chapter 234: Transformed Ice Bomb Magic Array (Part 1)
Translator: Nyoi-Bo Studio Editor: Nyoi-Bo Studio
Daniel sat on the sixth story of the magic tower. The dense fog was just outside the window, and from time to time, a ghost fog monster would pop its face out from the fog to take a peep into the magic tower.
Daniel was not flustered at all because the magic array underneath his body had been created for the purpose of connecting to the death dimension. Only strong and powerful death creatures existed on the other end of the magic array. Those ghost fog monsters did not have much wisdom, but they would not enter the sixth story of the magic tower either way, because the magic array contained a smell which they were terrified of.
The ghost fog monsters were simply eyeing the flesh of a death mage, and Daniel knew that. However, these monsters could not cause much damage to Daniel unless they were inside the fog. In front of Daniel was a ghost fog monster which Nailisi had delivered to him, and when Daniel recalled what Nailisi had said to him, he became a little petrified.
“I don’t care about the contract. As long as you try to harm my master, I will treat you the way I treated this monster.” After Nailisi had completed her sentence, she had torn that pitiful monster into shreds. Nailisi’s techniques were too precise, as though she had done such acts countless times. In her pair of green eyes was a desire to make people’s hearts palpitate.
Daniel did not know what type of desires Nailisi had. Perhaps she was hoping he would harm Saleen. That way, she would have the opportunity to kill him.
Anyway, Daniel had already signed the contract, so he did not try to challenge Nailisi. Daniel simply needed to advance to grade-6 before Saleen did and the contract would be voided. By then…
No matter how powerful Nailisi was, she was merely a maidservant. Daniel suppressed a fire which welled up in his heart and stopped thinking about the contract. Then, he released his death flames and began strengthening the winged skeleton. Additionally, he attempted to summon a second death creature.
It was pitch black outside the magic tower and the moonlight could not be seen. Saleen and Lex were engrossed in the midst of complex calculations, while Sika and Nailisi stood guard by the door of the magic tower, preventing any ghost fog monsters from accidentally barging in.
One night passed just like that.
As the sky gradually grew brighter, the fog started to disperse, and the tiny monsters within the fog also disappeared. Sika shoved the half broken door aside and walked up onto the podium. The colossal turtle shell laid quietly on the podium.
Sika jumped atop the shell and went to its center before sitting down. Then, she gazed at the distant barren land and rocks in a trance. Nailisi sneakily followed her and climbed behind Sika. Nailisi had not made any noise at all, but Sika had already taken out her boomerang and was pressing it against Nailisi’s neck. It was as though Sika had eyes on the back of her head.
“Sister Sika.” Nailisi spoke in a mellow tone as she curled up her body, a look of gentleness on her face.
“I am not your elder sister. Just think of your age right now.” Sika remembered Saleen’s words telling her to never trust Nailisi. Her mind was very simple. Once she set her mind to something, there was no way to make her change it.
Nailisi backed away slightly, allowing the boomerang to leave her neck before laying down, just like a magic pet.
“Sister Sika, I am Master’s… I won’t hurt you.”
“Probably.” Sika stored the boomerang into the leather sheath, having no intentions of having a conversation with Nailisi.
“Sister Sika, something is wrong with Lex.” Nailisi ignored Sika’s attitude. She placed her chin on her hand and lifted her eyelids so that she could observe Sika’s expression.
“Mm.”
“I think she likes Master,” Nailisi said calmly.
Sika’s eyelids fluttered, then her expression became that of indifference and said, “Saleen is a good man. It’s only natural that she will fall for him.”
“It’s not normal, not normal at all!” Nailisi rebutted. “Master’s background is nowhere near as noble as hers. Why would she fall for him? Sika, aren’t you worried?”
“Why should I be worried?”
“If Lex and Master get together, then Master will no longer need your protection.” As Nailisi spoke, her eyelids closed.
“Are you saying that Lex wants the entire interdimensional space? Then she can have it. I don’t need it.”
“I am talking about Master! Sika, don’t you like Master?”
Sika lowered her head, stared into Nailisi’s green eyes, and said, “I am a Caucasus person. I will vie for anything that I like. I haven’t thought about it yet. Why are you telling me all these things?”
“It’s all for Master! Sika, have you thought about it? If Master keeps following Lex, he will no longer spend his days happily. Those humans want to go to war. They want to go to war with the Holy See and conquer other people’s land. The thought of it is just so loathsome, don’t you think?”
Sika nodded. She agreed with Nailisi’s view. Caucasus people did not need to go to war. They simply needed to fill their stomachs, and any extra food would be given to the elderly and children in the village.
“Sika, if you like Master, I will help you,” Nailisi said earnestly.
“I get it. You can go and do your work now.” Sika removed the cudgel from her back and placed it on the turtle shell. Then, she laid down, using her cudgel as a pillow, before closing her eyes.
“Sister Sika, I am not busy at all.”
“But I am tired and want to sleep. I still have to stay up tonight.” As Sika spoke, she positioned her hands on the leather sheath housing her boomerang, and Nailisi knew that if she continued pestering Sika, Sika would attack her soon enough.
“Hmph…” Nailisi got up and jumped off of the turtle shell, confused. How did this Sika become so bright? However, Nailisi did not harbor any ill intentions either. She simply did not want Saleen to get together with a woman who was too intelligent, as that would not be beneficial to her.
“Nailisi!” Saleen’s voice came from the magic tower.
“Aye!”
“You shall continue cleaning the turtle shell, but be careful not to break anything.”
“Got it.” Nailisi pouted, but still obeyed Saleen’s orders and crawled into the turtle shell. The odor within the turtle shell smelled much nicer than it had yesterday. Seeing that no one was around, Nailisi removed her shoes and climbed with nimble movements towards the upper end of the shell. The roof of the turtle shell was about eight meters from the base of the shell. Nailisi clasped her legs around the lines on the shell and used her hands to pull out the carrion which had not been removed yet.
Nailisi remained in one spot and cautiously removed all the carrion. After more than an hour, the center of the turtle shell was completely clean. At this point in time, Nailisi noticed that there was a massive magic pattern at that spot.
This pattern was clear and profound, formed by the many layers which the turtle had grown over the years. Nailisi knocked on it and a hollow sound could be heard. Parts of the turtle shell were obviously hollow. If everything was solid, the shell would definitely have been heavier. Magic nuclei and magic liquid grew inside the hollow portions, and these portions possessed self-healing abilities.
Nailisi wanted to extract the magic nuclei, but did not dare to. Saleen had warned her against ruining the turtle shell, and if she did so, he would be furious. Nailisi placed her palm against the pattern, permeating her mental power into it.
Such an enormous magic nucleus! Nailisi found the position of the magic nucleus swiftly and secretly put a mental imprint on it. Even Saleen did not know that she had such an ability. After completing it satisfactorily, she then went in search for the next magic nucleus. From Nailisi’s perspective, the turtle belonged to her master, but Lex had forced her way in and Saleen could not fight back, and this made her furious. That was why Nailisi had tried to instigate Sika into fighting with Lex for Saleen.
Even though Sika had ignored her, Nailisi was not worried at all. Since Nailisi had already raised the question, the question would plant itself and grow in Sika’s mind, and then it would eventually erupt.
As a contract creature, Nailisi did not want to be under someone’s command. If Saleen got together with Lex in the future, Nailisi would naturally become the most pathetic coolie ever. However, if Saleen chose Sika, Nailisi would have an easier life. Sika was just a dumb woman. Obviously, she would be easier to deal with compared to Lex, who was shrewd. Perhaps her master could marry several women and have more children, but Lex definitely could not become the head of the household.
Nailisi’s task right now was to gain complete control of the turtle shell. Those magic nuclei would become the main part of the turtle warship, as they would become one with the alchemical machine. Nailisi was confident of gaining ultimate control as long as the warship was produced.
The alchemical machines made by humans were definitely exquisite, but they still relied on magic nuclei to be controlled at the end of the day. I will acquire these magic nuclei in advance. As long as the mental imprints aren’t discovered and the warship is produced, hehe…
Nailisi felt smug as she continued cleaning the interior of the turtle shell. Atop of the shell, Sika’s eyes were closed, but she could not get to sleep.
Do I like Saleen? I definitely do. But to what extent? I can only confirm that after asking the village chief when I return to the village. But I have become a warrior priest, so even if I like Saleen, I can’t get married to him! It seemed that in the history of the Caucasus people, there was not a priest who had been married yet.
Didn’t Saleen say that he wanted a boat so that he could live a life without any restraints on the ocean? So a boat is going to be built, but why is it for Lex’s battle? Qin people, Tanggulasi people, Cloudflow people, Sikeqinya people – are all of them so greedy? Wouldn’t it be great if everyone could live like the villagers? Why are there nobles, the Holy See, and so many inedible – but more important than food – gold coins?
Sika racked her brain but could not understand these things. In the end, she realized that all these problems stemmed from the Holy See. Without the existence of the Holy See, the old emperor would not have died, and Lex would not have so many ideas and would not have had to carry out so many tasks.
The Holy See. The most irksome fellows came from the Holy See. In the last few years, many warriors from two of the villages located to the south of the mountains had been deceived by the Holy See and had never returned. The Holy See had only given them some gold coins, and those gold coins were eventually cheated from them in the end.
The village chief was right. The Holy See and the rest of their accomplices do not actually have a religion. They are fallen devils who want to tempt mankind. Otherwise, why wouldn’t the Lord of Glory be willing to descend? The legends are true. If gods descended upon the Myers Mainland, they would gradually die, and no one would be an exception. The Myers Goddess was not the first, but she will definitely be the last.
Gods are selfish fellows. Those who are not selfish have already died.
Saleen was unaware what Sika and Nailisi were thinking about since he was intensely focused on analyzing his Ice Bomb spell. Immense calculations were needed in order to enable a spell to be cast from a magic array. This was even more true because Saleen’s spell was a complex transformed spell. Usually, he would require several months or even a year’s worth of calculation time, but now that Saleen was tapping into the Myers Goddess’ necklace, he could accomplish this task in a week.
They could not stay on this deserted island for too long. If Lex went missing for too long, change would definitely ensue in the Bitter Water Prefecture. The people in the Holy Rock City were looking forward to that day.
