Chapter 2144: Favor

Yushi Moli didn’t notice his uncle’s expression. He was fixated on the bottle of pills in his hand and the pills that were worth one thousand gold coins each!

These are really expensive too!

Yushi Moli swept a surreptitious gaze around the room, instinctively thinking that these Boneforge Pills were worth far more than one thousand gold coins. He looked at Yuqing Yang with surprise—this old man isn’t not half bad!

“Of course, you can have as many as you wish whenever you think things through and are willing to learn from me,” Yuqing Yang chuckled.

“My deepest thanks to the grandmaster, I will definitely think it over,” Yushi Moli responded politely. His conviction, however, grew stronger.

“Alright then, we will not disturb the grandmaster further. Sir, we take our leave,” Ouyang Du said.

“Go on,” Yuqing Yang waved them off.

When the visitors left, the grandmaster’s disciple couldn’t help but protest, “Teacher, although Ouyang Du comes from the Ouyang Clan, that family is a far cry from their former heights. Surely the favor he once did isn’t worth that much? The Boneforge Pill is an upper human rank pill. One of them goes for ten thousand gold coins!”

Ten thousand gold coins!

The true price of the Boneforge Pill was ten thousand gold coins, not one thousand!

Yuqing Yang had just casually handed out pills worth one hundred thousand gold coins! It was the equivalent of the Aurora city lord’s entire personal wealth!

“Although I have some relationship with the Ouyangs, that bit of relationship is indeed not worth this much.” Yuqing Yang shook his head and picked up the crystal ball that was used to test Yushi Moli.

Craaaack!

Deep fissures snaked through the crystal ball. Having tested an unknown number of candidates for alchemist potential, the crystal ball fell to the ground in pieces.

“Do you understand now?” Yuqing Yang looked at the tall and skinny young man.

“Such incredible mental strength, he’s going to be much more than an earth rank alchemist!” the disciple sucked in a sharp breath.

“We can take it slow. He’ll make the correct decision once he realizes he’s on the wrong path. What I need to focus on is helping him come to that realization faster. I will have this genius disciple!” A smile bloomed across Yuqing Yang’s face. The child was young, but his mentality was remarkably mature. He’d even kept part of his abilities back!

“Then why didn’t teacher speak of this openly? Why go to all of this effort in such a roundabout way?” The young man didn’t understand.

“While the boy is young, the look in his eyes is very determined. His personality also leans extreme. Ten oxen will not pull him back if he doesn’t realize his own mistakes,” Yuqing Yang chuckled. “He is very much like you in this regard, Guan Chong. You were a martial dao genius, but now you follow by my side and learn from me.”

……

“Uncle…” An unexpected look appeared in the bottom of Yushi Moli’s eyes. Rather than excitement, it was more like he owed someone a favor. “This Bone…”

“Don’t say anything. Wait until we’re outside!” Ouyang Du swept a look around the first floor and stopped his nephew from speaking further. He pulled the boy outside.

He knew the real value of a Boneforge Pill. Ten of them were worth one hundred thousand gold coins! Such massive wealth would invite fatal attention.

“Oh? Those two?” Someone on the first floor of the inn had fully taken their demeanors in. “The boy seems steady and dependable, he’s not someone to wear his heart on a sleeve. But he looks like he owes someone a favor, so he must’ve gotten something from the grandmaster!

“Bone…? Can it be a Boneforge Pill?? The pill worth ten thousand gold coins??” The middle-aged man dressed in green brightened and surreptitiously followed after the duo.

“Moli! The human heart can be malicious. You need to learn to hide yourself and not display everything on your face, got it?” Ouyang Du said solemnly when they left the inn.

“Goooooot it, uncle!” Yushi Moli drawled, his expression showing that he didn’t care.

He really didn’t, he at most felt that he owed the elder a favor. He’d thought that his uncle didn’t know, but it seemed that he did know the pill’s true value.

“Uncle, what good is this thing?” Yushi Moli asked with bafflement. It should be a wondrous pill, but he’d seen a look of true fear cross his uncle’s face. Regardless of what the pill’s actual price was, just the grandmaster’s words placed it at ten times Yushi Moli’s usual monthly expenditure.

One hundred gold coins worth of herbal baths and food was one entire month’s supplies. But here, one thousand gold coins was just for a single pill!

“It’s used to hone and temper your body,” Ouyang Due whispered. “One pill is the equivalent of one year of your training.”

“One year?” Yushi Moli blinked. This was turning into a massive favor that he’d been granted!

“Your usual way of tempering the body is incorrect. Although it strengthens you, it will not help you reach the level of a martial cultivator. What you have in your hand is what cultivators use to forge their bodies.” His uncle didn’t call the pill by its name.

“This… will help me become a cultivator?” Yushi Moli brightened.

“Just in terms of physical prowess,” Ouyang Du smiled.

There was one more thing he didn’t speak of—Boneforge Pills were meant for martial cultivators. They needed to be refined with true qi before they could be fully absorbed. For an ordinary person like Yushi Moli, he would struggle to absorb even one hundredth of its properties.

These ten pills were worth one hundred thousand gold coins, but they would be wasted by his nephew.

However, Ouyang Du could tell what the grandmaster was planning, so he didn’t say anything. Yuqing Yang was unwilling to give up on such a disciple. That was why he’d gifted this caliber of the pill.

“Alright, let’s go eat and I’ll take you back later,” Ouyang Du changed the topic.

“Okay,” Yushi Moli sighed as he caressed the pills in his arms. Even he didn’t know why he was so unmoved by them. If it was before, he’d already be jumping for joy. He would be very satisfied if his physical body could reach the level of a martial cultivator.

The two led their horses to a moderately sized tavern and ordered a few dishes.

“I’ve finally found you, boss!” A man in a combat uniform rushed into the tavern halfway through the meal. He whispered a few words into Ouyang Du’s ears, causing the man’s face to darken.

“Bastard!” he spat and took a deep breath. “Moli, go back to the city lord’s residence after you finish your meal. Remember, don’t go back to the estate alone! I need to take care of something first.”

“I understand, uncle. Go on,” Yushi Moli nodded. He wouldn’t add to his uncle’s plate of troubles.

Ouyang Du left with his man after he paid for lunch.

“Those damned Black Winds robbers! How dare they covet even my goods!” Ouyang Du snapped.

“I wonder what’s happened? It’s my first time seeing that kind of expression on uncle’s face.” Yushi Moli frowned as he watched Ouyang Du leave. “I’m going to finish eating, buy some presents for Little Ying and the others, then go back to the estate.”

Go to the city lord’s residence? He… didn’t really want to. Although part of the reason why he trained so hard was because of his father, he seemed to have subconsciously rejected his father at some point in time.

It was like his father wasn’t his father.

Thus, he shopped through the city after he finished eating. After buying some baubles and snacks, he rode out of Aurora City alone.

“He’s alone? Perfect! The pill that’s worth ten thousand gold coins is mine!” The man in green robes rubbed his hands together.
