Apocalypse Cockroach
Chapter 181: Pleased, immensely pleased
Over the course of drifting about, he found his way to this group, although the days were tough, he was able to survive. To Mi Nan, the life was satisfying. But to him, it was not. He wanted to die, he wanted to go down and find his sister. Then, the opportunity arose. The leader of the ordinary citizens sought him out. After promising that Mi Nan would be provided with the basic necessities, so long as he could kill the leader of the fleet of vehicles at the crucial moment…..” Why…..why……why don’t you kill me…..come, shoot me….” With his bloodshot eyes, he stared at the Combat Team Member and howled in anger. His gasps for breath caused his chest to undulate heavily, he stared at every single man holding onto a rifle with anger in his eyes, he wanted to die and not receive their ridicule. He swapped his blade hand to his right and looked around, he wanted to die, he wanted to die a glorious death by battle. “It’ll be him, he’s laughing the most, humph! Laugh all you want… you’re dying with me….”
His target was the Combat Team Member standing beside Yang Ke’er who was laughing the most. Who would have thought that lying would get himself killed?
The young man continued to stand in the same spot as he turned around and around. Suddenly, he increased his speed and threw his blade straight at the throat of the targeted member. The Combat Team Member was overly careless, he had his gun slung over his body, but seeing the sudden blade approaching him made him fall into despair and closed his eyes.
The blade stopped right at his throat and he could clearly feel the faint chill from the blade, he faintly took a step back as he clumsily held onto the rifle. Due to the shock, he dropped his rifle onto the ground. He took a few more steps back, only to see that the man’s hand was held in a dead grip by Yang Ke’er.
The young man stared at Yang Ke’er’s fingers in shock, he knew of his own strength, a grown man would never be able to hold him down, much less a tender-looking young girl. He tried to struggle but Yang Ke’er’s pair of blushing hands prevented him from even moving an inch. He stared at Yang Ke’er’s adorable face with his bloodshot eyes and saw the disdain in her eyes. He became even more furious.
“AHHHHH…..” He raised his left fist and smashed down at Yang Ke’er’s face. Yang Ke’er flicked her wrist and the young man was flung into the distance like a little doll.
“Plop….” He fell to the ground, inciting a cloud of smoke. He groaned on the ground and struggled for a bit before climbing up clumsily. A sudden dizzy spell struck him and in the daze, he saw a frail figure headed towards him. “Ah….” He roared out once more and raised his fist at the figure. With another flick, he was flung out once more….Sprawled to the ground, he struggled, twisting and turning. He felt as though every single bone in his body had been clamped and broken by pincers, the intense pain surged into his mind like a tide. He laid his chin on the ground, his heavy breathing blowing away the dust around him, forming a cloud of dust. He slowly shifted his arm to below his chest and supported himself, his two thighs slowly moved until he formed a kneeling position. Every single movement he made looked as though he was in slow-motion, slowly going through the motion to climb back up onto his feet. His posture was hilarious, but no one dared to laugh. They were all shocked, the young man was flung by Yang Ke’er multiple times, but he was able to stand after every single time and could even attempt a punch at her, except after every throw, his movements got slower and slower, his punches lighter and lighter. Unknowingly, Yang Ke’er had reduced the amount of strength used to throw him up and started to become merciful in her actions. Even so, the young man became weaker and weaker, to the point that he almost had no strength to even climb back up.
He stood in his position, his body swaying left and right, the dizziness in his head heavier and heavier. He could no longer see his surroundings clearly, he took a sluggish step forward, trying to find the little girl that had flung him to the ground countless of times. He still wanted to attack her, either to wait for her to kill him or to die by fatigue. A figure appeared in his blurred figure, “Is that you?” He swayed and moved towards the figure. The figure kept on approaching him, closer and closer. “Ahhh….” He used the remaining ounce of strength in him and released a howl, then raised his right fist and forced it towards the figure.
His fist was stopped, he saw the red clothes in front of him got even darker. The owner of the down-filled garment was the beautiful girl, she was roughly the same age as Yang Ke’er, her face constantly having a fearful expression. Tears filled up her eyes. She extended her hands out with the intention of supporting him but halfway through, she hesitated, as though she did not dare to touch him.
The young man finally saw who was the owner of the red down-filled garment, he lowered his arm and remarked: “You are not her!”, and fell to the ground.
Zhang Xiao Qiang had already placed the young man in the back of his mind long ago. His subordinates rounded up the men on the floor. In the face of the machine gun, all of them obediently knelt down while hugging their heads. The muzzle of the machine gun slowly moved across them, every time it shifted to them and lingered slightly longer, the men would become even more fearful.
100 odd men were all kneeling on the ground trembling, they had no clue as to what their fate was. In the end, they were the ones who started everything, some of them who were hugging their heads moved their eyes everywhere as they observed the men with the guns, as though they were ready to run the moment they hear a gunfire. Some of them had their eyes closed as they muttered prayers under their breath. Some of the men looked at the few kneeling down at the front in resentment, all of them the leaders of the various teams. They hated their leaders for bringing them out for trouble, some of these men even had eyes on the rifles aimed at their heads while muttering to themselves: “He said there was a machine gun, he said there was a machine gun….”
Zhang Xiao Qiang held a cigarette in hand and walked over to the men, occasionally puffing the cigarette and slowly exhaling the smoke. He looked at the men with his extremely cold gaze which caused their hearts to tremble. The silver and shiny Desert Eagle on his waist were like the Death God’s Scythe. In their minds, they thought that Zhang Xiao Qiang was choosing an unlucky egg to be punished as an example for the rest, none of them wanted to be the unlucky one. Every time Zhang Xiao Qiang’s cold gaze swept past them, they would bury their heads in their chest until his bone-chilling gaze turned away.
Zhang Xiao Qiang’s felt pleased, he felt immensely pleased to the point of being unable to describe his emotions. Seeing all of the muscular men, he felt extremely happy. Zhang Xiao Qiang had learned the art to conceal his emotions, his eyes were cold but his heart was hot with emotions. What is a world after an apocalypse lacking most? It isn’t guns or gunpowder, not food or supplies, it’s manpower. Mature and strong manpower, with them, we can steal, we can build, we can grow, we can create….
