Chapter 286

The Legitimate Daughter Doesn’t Care!

Chapter 286

Hi, everybody. I have recently started a new novel called Strict Wife of the ’70s Manages the Household. It already has 17 chapters. You can check it out HERE.

Tong Yan took the ginger soup that he made into the room and placed it on the bedside table. He sat by the side of the bed and was going to help her sit up, but he saw that she had automatically done so by herself.

Tong Yan blew on the spoonful of soup to cool it down. With one hand holding onto the spoon, the other was hovering beneath it as he brought it closer to feed Xu Xinduo.

Xu Xinduo intended to drink it by herself— drinking the soup with a spoon was going to take all day, after all. But when Tong Yan brought the spoon closer to her, she didn’t resist being fed.

Tong Yan subconsciously kept his gaze on Xu Xinduo’s lips.

Seeing her drink the spoonful of ginger soup, he unknowingly swallowed a gulp of saliva as well.

Xu Xinduo noticed that small detail as she asked softly, “You want to drink some as well?”

“I- What I crave is not the ginger soup.”

With that response, Xu Xinduo became slightly flustered and replied in a low volume, “Oh.”

Both of them were embarrassed.

After tasting the enrapturing sweetness of the kiss, he felt like one kiss just wasn’t enough.

So he was contemplating as he raged war within himself— on one hand, he wanted to knock it off, but on the other hand he wanted to kiss her again.

However, he still had a sense of rationality, so he didn’t try anything impulsive.

Tong Yan immediately looked at her again, elated to find that Xu Xinduo was also a panicked mess despite her efforts to appear calm and normal on the outside, “But! You… you can’t just… do that so suddenly, got it?”

Although her sentence was jumbled and broken, Tong Yan was able to understand it with ease as he nodded, “Oh, okay.”

Xu Xinduo continued to warn him, “If there is a next time, I will beat you up!”

“As long as I’m not dead by the end of the day, I’ll take it.”

Now this practically means that there will be a next time, doesn’t it?

Xu Xinduo didn’t bother to acknowledge Tong Yan’s presence as he continued the repetitive movements of blowing onto a spoonful of hot soup and feeding her.

This game really shouldn’t be played when I’m drinking soup; I can’t even hide.

After finishing the entire bowl, Xu Xinduo quickly buried herself under the covers, desperately trying to collect herself and revert to her stern and no-nonsense appearance. It seemed to be working, but from Tong Yan’s point of view, she looked like a large worm that was wriggling around.

Xu Xinduo said, “I’m going to rest, you should return home.”

“I’m staying here for the night.”

“Then go to the living room; remember to turn off the lights.”

Tong Yan looked at her and asked again, “You really don’t want to change?”

“No!” Xu Xinduo replied stubbornly.

“Why are you so adamantly stubborn this time?”

“Because there really wasn’t a need for that in the first place!”

Tong Yan stood up and grabbed a thermos, filling it with some hot water for her.

Then, he went to the kitchen and rinsed some fruits. He wanted to remove the skin from the apples, but when he put the thought into practice, a third of the apple was somehow sliced off along with its skin. In the end, he gave up on that and ate the apple himself.

Afterwards, he took another apple and sliced it in half. Placing both halves onto a plate, he considered his job done.

With the thermos of water and the apple slices prepared, he continued to ponder if there was anything else he could do. In the end, he opted to turn on the humidifier.
