Chapter 802 - Borders, Main Camp
Sword Among Us
Chapter 802: Borders, Main Camp
The multitude of players from everywhere in the Chinese plains, along with the crowd that went to the north washed off the effect of Happy’s fight against Class One Hall.
On the second day, Mu Clan’s people set out on their trip. The people from Chivalry Sect and Wind Assault Tower went along with them while keeping a distance from them, and their journey to the borders was lively.
They rushed along their journey for half a day, and finally, on the eve of the war, they saw the camps of the Chinese army set up dozens of miles away.
On their way there, the people already noticed the occasional cavaliers patrolling the area far away from the camp. In fact, there were even scouting teams around. These people were all built like giants, and their riding skills were great. Their gazes were sharp, and they were unlike those bandits in the Chinese plains. Their actions appeared to be the standard riding techniques, and they formed an invisible wave of pressure.
Besides that, regardless of the patrolling cavaliers or scouts, all of them were at least at Moksha Realm. Those who led the teams were usually at Inaction Realm. However, their equipment was nothing eye-catching. They kept a low profile and were hidden in their group.
When they saw martial artists head toward them, these patrolling cavaliers did not concern themselves with them, and they never meddled with their affairs.
They only cast a glance at Happy and his large group arriving in the area before they left and continued to do their tasks.
Happy and the rest were already used to seeing an increasing number of patrolling groups, and they just stared at the distant camp.
“There’s so many people around.”
“It’s good that there’s a lot of people around. They can serve to point us in the right direction instead of us running around like headless chickens. The number of people in the area is the highest. That should be the place where we receive our quests.”
Ever since the emperor made his announcement to the world, a lot of martial artists from the Chinese server arrived in this place, and an endless number of people moved through some camps in an endless stream. They received and triggered quests, and the sight was incredibly lively and majestic.
The group of people smiled.
“Hmm… let’s go over there.”
“Let’s see how we can go about this quest.”
The large group of people surged to the camp in a mighty wave.
“Damn it, where did all these players come from?”
“Don’t you know how to open your eyes to look?”
“Mu…”
Since war had not broken out, the armies on both sides were basically keeping themselves to their camps. Many people waited nearby for more quests, but they did not choose to leave.
Because of it, countless players from the Chinese plains gathered near the camp. In fact, some of the entrances to a few places had heavy traffic. No one moved in front of those entrances, and even after a long while, no one managed to move even the slightest bit.
When Happy and his group arrived at the place, the situation did not become any better.
Little North grabbed someone nearby to get some information, and from it, he learned that the emperor had set up six auxiliary camps and two main camps at the back of the military camp for the sake of gathering the martial artists from China together to form an effective fighting force.
The main camps were there to distribute fighting quests, which meant that aside from being in the midst of all the action in battles that were a little more intense, they will be tasked to harass their enemies’ flanks, go around and intercept their enemies’ food supplies, or be involved in fights that were of rather large scales.
These quests might be rather big quests that involved a lot of people, but they will happen at the most intense battlefields, which will involve the players in direct confrontations. This meant that this was the best chance to accumulate points. Usually, some of the players who were rather skilled will join these quests and fight against the Mongolian Army and the Mongolian elites. To balance the power between both armies, the system will also reduce or add to the fighting power between both camps.
The first main camp was in charge of distributing quests and assessing the players’ war achievements.
The second main camp was in charge of logistics. They were in charge of the exchange of the points from the war achievements as well as the mobilization of soldiers. Once the players had accumulated a certain degree of points, they can exchange their points with rewards or titles on the spot over here.
What surprised Happy and the rest was that there was a War Achievement Point Rank in the first main camp. All those who had points could find their names on the ranking board. They could then check their ranks, the titles they could get, and how they could use their points.
The second main camp also had a ranking board, but the second ranking board showed the players’ fighting abilities once they could lead their own squads. This would show their comprehensive fighting ability, along with the new quests they could trigger based on different combat abilities.
For example, a group of the most common infantrymen could only trigger scouting or reconnaissance quests around the area. In one day, when they reported their work in time, they will only get fifty points.
But a large group of cavaliers could trigger large-scale quests to harass the enemy army’s flanks as well as intercept their food supply, and since these tasks will bring about great effects to the effects of the war, the points the players will accumulate from these quests will be very high. The highest possible points they could accumulate was one hundred thousand points, and that was not including the points they will accumulate when they killed enemy soldiers during the quest period.
This news caused Happy and his party to have a different view toward the way to accumulate points based on the quests at the borders.
Happy had Little North check on the situation because of how fast he moved. And when he came back, he told Happy what he had expected. There were many quests, and the areas they covered was incredibly wide. Over the month, the points that will be produced will definitely be more than twenty million points. Perhaps it will be at two hundred million points, and perhaps even more.
As for the six auxiliary camps, the first auxiliary camp was in charge of using bows to attack the enemies.
Those whose archery skills passed the test could join the bow camp, and they will just be like a legitimate army. These players will move together with the bow camp and join small-scale battles. As they accumulated more points and had the number of enemies they killed increase, they could join the archer camp, longbow camp, and even the divine archer camp.
There was also the infantry camp, cavalier camp, and shield camp!
Each of these camps will have their different fighting zones.
Aside from these four auxiliary camps, there was also the fifth and sixth auxiliary camps. The fifth camp was in charge of ambushes and assassinations. They took quests to infiltrate deep into the enemy lines, and they will mainly take up quests to assassinate enemy generals or great martial artists. But there were fewer people in these two camps, because the people who can accept these quests were all people who must have certain war achievements.
The sixth camp was in charge of protecting the commander and some important generals, because the enemy elites might also infiltrate their camps and assassinate their generals, and the evil cult elites were very likely to be the ones to infiltrate their camps. Shadow Assassin and Wan Wan were both assassination elites.
These two last camps provided quests that could give out a lot of points. The chances of the players getting these quests were not lesser than the chances of the players getting quests to go out and fight for the army, and there will be no one who will interrupt them while they did their quests as well!
Happy, Wind Void, and Phantasmal Shadow met up with each other to talk.
“Looks like we’ll need to change our plans a little.”
“Yes. I originally thought that joining the quests at the frontlines will be the best chance for us to get points, but by the looks of it now, the situation is not as easy as we thought it to be.”
“The system is very fair in giving everyone a chance to gain points.”
“The safe quests will give you very few points…”
“There will also be a lot of people joining the dangerous quests. If we gather together, we should be rather strong in terms of combat abilities, but the points we get from the quest will not be much once we split it up among ourselves.”
Phantasmal Shadow analyzed the situation for a while before she said, “The quests that will provide the most points and has the highest chance for us to encounter fortuitous events cannot be immediately received… We must move forward step by step… I have a suggestion.
“Instead of splitting up and adding the risk to ourselves or splitting the points from the quests, it’s better to rely on our own strength. Let’s help a few of our own people to get military titles first and form a cavalry unit. Then, we can trigger large-scale resistance quests.”
Phantasmal Shadow’s suggestion caused Wind Void and the others to have their eyes light up, and even Happy nodded.
“That’s what I think as well. Instead of going with the entire group or going with other groups to fight for points, it’s better for us to create our own points, but if that’s the case, we might have to go our own ways.”
“If anything happens, let’s contact each other via messenger pigeon.”
“Alright!”
