Miracle Pill Maker Bullies the Boss

1887 Curiosity Will Kill You One Day

It was not the first time Min Yu had heard Huo Yao mention she wanted to take back the white jade. During this time, he kept trying to avoid the subject and kept investigating the Shangguan clan. Sadly, he was unable to get any more intel about them.

After thinking for some time, he retrieved the white jade from his pocket and spoke as he reminisced, “I remember when Old Madam Yang gave me this piece of jade, she said it would bring you good fortune and keep you safe.”

Min Yu lowered his eyes and tightened his grip on the white jade in his hands. He paused before handing it to Huo Yao without saying anything.

Huo Yao looked at the jade as she held it in mid-air. She could suddenly sense her throat tighten, but she did not show her emotions on her face.

Before long, she reached her hand out to take the jade from him. She held it in her hand briefly and said calmly, “Old people tend to be more superstitious.”

It was just a lifeless object. How could it keep anyone safe?

Huo Yao pondered with self-deprecation.

However, she knew what Min Yu meant.

“Good people never last long.” Huo Yao leaned back casually. She veered her head and looked at Min Yu. “I’m not a good person.”

Min Yu spoke calmly as he nodded, “That’s quite the coincidence then. Neither am I.”

Neither of them were good people, so they were meant for each other.

Meanwhile, on the other end.

Shangguan Hou sat in the car looking out the car window.

The words “garrison building” could be seen on the building sign. A few guards were standing with their backs straight at the guard post outside the main entrance. From a distance, the place looked very imposing.

Shangguan Hou took a glance and veered his eyes. At this moment, his phone rang. He put on his mike. “They are here at the Ministry of National Security.”

A laptop was sitting on his lap. A map could be seen on the screen along with a blinking red flag.

At close scrutiny, it was clear that the flashing place marker was for the garrison building.

“Faster than I thought this time.” The man over the phone paused briefly. “You can send word now.”

“Okay,” acknowledged Shangguan Hou unhurriedly.

Shangguan Huo had put on a new human skin mask today. He was now in his fifties with genial features and looked sage-like.

If Huo Yao was around, she would have recognized this face. He looked just like her master.

“You seem to know Shangguan Yu very well,” After hanging up the phone, Shangguan Hou suddenly said.

It was not the first time Shangguan Hou felt this way. During this time, he especially felt King felt very strange. It seemed as though King knew everything.

Hearing this, King asked rhetorically, “What are you trying to get at?”

Shangguan Hou promptly went dumb. After some time, he finally said, “I was just asking.”

“Curiosity will kill you one day,” answered King mildly.

Although King’s tone sounded completely normal, the more King spoke this way, the more worried Shangguan Hou felt.

Despite the great distance between them, it faintly felt as though a strong and powerful enemy had zeroed in on him to take him out at any moment.

Before long, King hung up the phone.

Shangguan Hou raised his hand, removed the mike from his ear, and tossed it aside. His eyes looked very cold. One day, King would no longer control him.

Shangguan Hou pressed his brow and opened the car window halfway. After roughly 20 minutes, a car slowly drove out of the garrison office. When he saw the car, he told his men to drive off.

The backseat car window slowly wound up covering his face gradually until nothing could be seen.

Huo Yao’s car came out of the main entrance. She inadvertently saw the car leaving in front of her and her eyes froze.
