Chapter 1007: A Life with No Regrets
The Heart of Multicolor was a great magical power of the Primeval Age, and this remarkable power was rather unique. Even the Multicolor Xuan Ming Spider who inherited this remarkable power could only use it once in their lifetime. The Ink Scaled King was rather upset. The three of them went back thousands of years, but the Multicolor Queen had chosen to demonstrate the Heart of the Multicolor to Mo Wen, a human. Did the Multicolor Queen like this human?
Once she demonstrated the Heart of Multicolor, she would have to stay with Mo Wen forever and would be unable to separate from him. On top of that, she would not be able to go against Mo Wen’s will from this moment forth. It was tantamount to her taking Mo Wen on as master.
“I’m so jealous, Mo Wen doesn’t know how d*mn lucky he is,” the Ink Scaled King grumbled, jealousy written all over his face. It was natural that he was so upset. He was being forced to watch such a good thing happen to someone else.
“I’m not trying to nag at you, Old Mo, but Multicolor would rather die here than give you the Heart of Multicolor. This is because the Heart of Multicolor is the most sacred of things to someone of the Multicolor Clan, and it’s far more important than life,” the Jade Xiu King said with a smile.
In terms of age, he was the oldest of the three Great Kings and was older than the Multicolor Queen and the Ink Scaled King by at least thousands of years. He had already made a name for himself by the time the Multicolor Queen and the Ink Scaled King had been born. Both of them, on the other hand, were rather similar in age. They had once been their generation’s pride in the ancient land. The two of them had been the most dazzling.
Back then, they had a secret affair. Perhaps nobody else knew about this, but the Jade Xiu King was very well aware of it.
It was some time ago — exactly when, he was not too sure — but the Ink Scaled King had once proposed to the Multicolor Queen in an attempt to forge a strong alliance to defeat him, the one who had been the strongest of the ancient land. Things had not worked out as he had hoped and he had ended up taking a beating from the Multicolor Queen. Ever since then, the Ink Scaled King had not dared to bring this matter up again. The years passed by like this, and things changed with the passing of time. Time flew by quickly, and perhaps the Ink Scaled King no longer felt as passionately about the Multicolor Queen as he once used to, but he still had lingering feelings for her.
To see her give the Heart of Multicolor to Mo Wen now made something simmer in his chest.
“In the Primeval Age, the Multicolor Xuan Ming Spider who possessed the Heart of Multicolor within them was usually a Sacred Maiden from their tribe. The Sacred Maiden would only present the Heart of Multicolor to the fated one when they appeared. However, the Heart of Multicolor attracted too much attention, and numerous people coveted it. As such, a lot of people resorted to cunning means, scheming to no end. They tried each and every method they could to try to cheat the Heart of Multicolor from the Multicolor Sacred Maiden. Once cheated, the Multicolor Sacred Maiden would be forced to deal with dire consequences. As such, since the Primeval Age, a lot of Multicolor Sacred Maidens have led a lonely life, not giving away the Heart of Multicolor even in their death. Actually, you should be congratulating Multicolor. At least she’s brave enough to take this step,” the Jade Xiu King said, his voice full of emotion.
If not for Mo Wen’s appearance, the Multicolor Queen could have been lonely to her very last day, much like the Multicolor Sacred Maidens from the Primeval Age. The Multicolor Sacred Maiden was rather strange in her choice of partner, and it usually left people confused and in disbelief. Some people chased her for thousands and millions of years, refusing to give up. And yet, even then, they could not find themselves in her good graces. There were also times where someone had the good fortune of becoming the master of the Multicolor Sacred Maiden within just a day of making her acquaintance.
The Multicolor Sacred Maiden often led her life waiting for the right person.
“Brother Jade Xiu, Multicolor might have given the Heart of Multicolor to Mo Wen, but his cultivation is too low. Even with the heart, he has no way of defeating the dead spirit, does he? There’s no point to Multicolor doing this,” the Ink Scaled King said helplessly.
He was still a little indignant. After all, he had liked Multicolor for so many years, but she had never felt the same about him. Just what had Mo Wen done to deserve such great favor from Multicolor?
On top of that, giving the Heart of Multicolor to Mo Wen had little to no use in this current situation, since Mo Wen’s cultivation was simply too far behind. Logically speaking, Multicolor should have given it to the Jade Xiu King. This way, they might still have had a shot. Even if the Ink Scaled King would still be torn up about this, he would not be as indignant.
If they could not make it past the Ninth Spirit Mountain, Mo Wen could still leave from the Eight Spirit Mountain. The Multicolor Queen would still die here since the rules of this world did not allow for her to leave; once she followed Mo Wen to the teleporter, her soul would be instantly wiped out by the rules of this world. As a native of the ancient land, their lives carried the brand of this word, a brand seared deep into their souls. Even if they seized a human body, they would never be able to leave the ancient land.
For a native of the ancient land, the Ninth Spirit Mountain was their only shot at living.
“Multicolor has given the Heart of Multicolor to Mo Wen. Do you still not understand? Mo Wen is the fated one, the one meant for her. To Multicolor, giving away the Heart of Multicolor is the most sacred moment of her life, even if she knows that she will still die despite giving away the Heart of Multicolor,” the Jade Xiu King remarked mildly.
He had never once coveted the Heart of Multicolor. Maybe the three of them would live if it were given to him but she would rather die than do this, because he was not the one meant for her.
The radiant Rainbow Divine Light became increasingly dazzling, and the Multicolor Queen’s body transformed into a rainbow light, slowly integrating into Mo Wen’s body. There were threads of Rainbow Divine Light seeping out from where Mo Wen’s heart was. His heart was beating strongly and, at this moment, seemed rather heavy, as if it carried the weight of a person’s life in it.
One body, two lives. If Mo Wen died, so would the one in his heart. He was moved beyond words. So, such pure emotions still existed in this world!
The people of this world were filled with a desire for material gain, and they greeted one another with a mask on. This world was filled with doubt, suspicion, and envy… Nobody believed in love at first sight, and they believed people were inherently selfish. All the hustle and bustle in this world was solely for some form of profit, and there existed no love that was pure and without the regrets of life.
Mo Wen heaved a light sigh. He did not understand what he had done to deserve this either, to be able to receive such a priceless love.
Colorful clouds wafted over from the east, and even the Divine Light looked like clouds. Mo Wen’s entire body was soaked in the gentle rainbow light. He felt his strength growing and growing. The Multicolor Queen’s life and all of her everything was now piled onto him.
He lifted his head slowly. As his gaze fell upon the grey-robed dead spirit on the Ninth Spirit Mountain, he knew that his failure to defeat this obstacle would strip away the most precious part of the gem he had just received. He took step after slow step towards the Ninth Spirit Mountain, the bright light coming off of his body like clouds, staining half of the sky.
“Man up and defeat it, Mo Wen. If you fail, you’ll lose my respect,” the Ink Scaled King bellowed in a rough voice. At the same time, his figure retreated tens of miles in a black flash.
The Jade Xiu King looked towards the cliff. He took a step back as well, moving tens of miles away in the blink of an eye.
The eyes of the two Great Kings slowly. Suddenly, they burst into laughter.
“You’re right, I should be congratulating her. I hope Mo Wen succeeds, and he doesn’t disappoint the infatuation Multicolor has for him,” the Ink Scaled King commented calmly.
“Perhaps they will. There’s nothing stronger than the power of true love, after all.” The Jade Xiu King smiled mildly.
The two of them retreated miles back so as not to disturb Mo Wen, but they also realized that they had given up their final chance. Even if Mo Wen defeated the dead spirit, it would only be him and Multicolor who would escape from here. The two of them would still be left to die here.
To not add to the pressure was probably the only way they could be of help to the other two now.
Mo Wen took one step after another, moving to be right in front of the dead spirit. His eyes were like a Rainbow Glazed Mirror, glistening like the Multicolor Queen: cold, noble, and sacred.
“Another one ready to die.”
The grey-robed dead spirit chuckled darkly. Earlier when the Ink Scaled King had been rescued, it had been filled with an incomparable rage upon losing its sacrifice. This time, there was no way it would allow this human to escape.
Besides, this human seemed rather different. The light coming off of his body, as well as his flesh and blood, were emitting a deeply attractive aura. Its desire was ceaselessly being dragged out of its heart; it had never wanted to consume a person more than it did now.
“Growl of the Dead Spirits.”
The blood-red sickle of the grey-robed dead spirit morphed into a shadow all of a sudden, then appeared in his body in an instant. At the same time, the heaven and the earth seemed to fill with the growls of dead spirits, the sound shaking his soul. The scene before his eyes seemed to have morphed into one from hell. At one glance, it was impossible to tell where the bones of the dead and the malicious-looking dead spirit stopped.
Mo Wen’s face was devoid of expressions. The rainbow light in his eyes stirred all of a sudden, morphing into two large, rainbow-colored vortexes.
After the Eye of Enlightenment had morphed with the Multicolor Queen’s Heart of Multicolor, it seemed to have undergone some sort of change, shattering the illusion of this world with one look.
The hellscape in front of him vanished without a trace all of a sudden. The soul-shattering souls disappeared as well, and a vivid blood light appeared right in front of Mo Wen. It was the blood-colored sickle.
A ray of thunder manifested in Mo Wen’s hand. The next moment, the heaven and earth growled as thunderous clouds gathered. An enormous, immemorial heavenly serpent illusory figure sprawled across the sky. The power of the thunder suddenly released to form the most brilliant light, transforming into lightning that had been condensed to the extreme, striking directly at the blood-colored sickle.
At that moment, all of heaven and earth seemed to have quietened down.
In the next moment, a thunderous sound rang out, and the grey-robed dead spirit was sent flying out.
Mo Wen took a step back. With every step he took, an explosion rang out in the air. It seemed as if the air had burst under the force of his step. The mountain peaks beneath him were crumbling noisily; the Ninth Spirit Mountain was crumbling with every step he took in the air.
“What terrifying strength. The Heart of Multicolor truly lives up to its name!” The Ink Scaled King took a cold breath. Mo Wen, as he was now, could end him in a few moves. It was important to know that the grey-robed dead spirit’s cultivation had increased twice from the base cultivation since it was Mo Wen and Multicolor now, and it was even more terrifying than what the Ink Scaled King had gone up against. And yet, Mo Wen sent it flying with just one spear.
“The very moment the Heart of Multicolor is integrated is when it is the strongest. If they do not make it through now, then Mo Wen will stand no chance.” The Jade Xiu King stared steadily at the battlefield in the Ninth Spirit Mountain. The Multicolor Queen’s Heart of Multicolor had been contained for hundreds of thousands of years and it was finally about to release its light now.
