Provocative Fiery Wife: My Superior is a Affectionate Spitfire
Chapter 1497: Oh, god. Who has she met?
After some time, he finally let go of her. “Sorry, I got jealous.”
Ji Ziming lowered his head as gentleness filled his eyes. His voice trembled slightly. “I know that Huang Zhian used to be your middle-school classmate. I had someone investigate him when we got back from Red Star.”
“Why didn’t you tell me that?”
Pei Ge’s chest labored as she could not catch her breath from the kiss with him earlier. With this bomb dropped on her, she only felt baffled on why he did not tell her this information. Was the trust between them so undeserving to be mentioned or was it too vulnerable?
“I had my reasons for not telling you, but you should trust that I wasn’t thinking maliciously about you.”
“Isn’t keeping mum about all these the same as suspecting me?”
“It’s not,” he growled in a low voice, his steely heart melted when he saw tears welling up in the woman’s beautiful eyes. “You gotta trust me as I truly had reasons for not telling you about it. When the time is right, I’ll naturally tell you why.”
“You always have reasons for doing things your way. Even when you fire people, you have reasons, too. You’re Ji Ziming, the CEO of the largest conglomerate in the capital. Of course, nobody will stop you from doing the things you want and none can stop you, too, but I do hope that you’ll keep in mind that I’m human and your woman. I’m willing to shoulder your burden and entrust my life to you. Can you just try and trust me even once?”
“I said that it’s not because I didn’t believe in you.”
The cold glint in his eyes surfaced and his voice sounded aloof. How was it possible that he did not trust her? Who was he and who had the ability to vie with him for her?
Her heart and person belonged to him, and nobody else had more right than him to them.
“Alright. If you trust me, let me tell you that I’ll go this afternoon to Red Star with Huang Zhian; will you agree?”
She was brimming with tears but did not allow them to fall out of spite.
“No way!”
He growled and used his arms to restrain her. “Me believing you and allowing you to be with him are two different things.”
“So what is the same thing?” asked the woman in response. Her voice was choking and quivering, and the sight of it gripped his heart.
What was he doing? Nobody could hurt his woman, so why was he doing something that he disliked himself?
His voice softened. “Ge Ge, let’s not argue. If you really wanna go, I won’t stop you. I’m just afraid that someone hiding in the dark will harm you. You’re out in the open and without my protection; I’m really fearful that something will happen to you.”
“Something will happen to me? I’ve been upright all my life, so I’m not afraid of anything happening to me.”
Pei Ge was unwilling to back down. She had to let him know that she completely had the ability to be by his side in good times and bad times.
“Alright. You’re not afraid, but I am.” The man suddenly hugged her tightly and did not give her any chance to breathe. “Just be by my side, alright?”
If he wanted her to be a canary in a cage, it was impossible—definitely impossible!
“I just want to—”
“Pei Ge, are you in your room? Pei Ge?”
Before she could finish speaking, a knocking sounded at the door. Although Qu Jingwan’s voice was blocked by the door, it was amplified in her ears. She had to stop what she was about to say as she leaned in the man’s embrace without moving.
“Are you in the room? Auntie told you to go down for breakfast.”
Standing outside the door, the lady intentionally knocked loudly to make the older woman downstairs hear it. She wanted her to know that she was magnanimous and was not petty about Pei Ge’s pregnancy.
Thus, silently and stealthily, her scheme was unfolding in this quiet morning.
Sensing that the person in his embrace had become quiet and obedient, the corners of Ji Ziming’s lips curled into a smile. His worry was not uncalled for. Since the last spy at Red Star had not been found yet, everyone was a suspect. He could not be lenient to Huang Zhian just because he was his woman’s middle-school classmate; in fact, he was even more suspicious of the guy because of this.
Pei Ge waited for a while, and when she was sure that Qu Jingwan had gone downstairs, she broke free of his arms and found herself an excuse awkwardly. “I didn’t do it on purpose; it’s purely by accident.”
“Then, let such an accident happen a few more times.” The man’s smile became wider as his gaze on her became gentler.
“What do you mean?” She was seriously suspecting how many faces this man possessed.
With outsiders, he was the icy CEO; with her, he was a domineering and jealous lover; finally, with their children, he was a cold yet loving father…
Oh, god. Whom had she met?
“Don’t you know what I mean? You can’t follow that guy to Red Star this afternoon unless I come along. You’re still pregnant on the surface, so it’s better for me to take charge of some matters.”
His cold gaze scanned her, and she instantly felt a cold breeze around her. It seemed that she had been targeted by a wolf long ago.
“Reall?” She did not believe him. Currently, she was afraid that this man before her had transformed into a wolf. When he regained his true self, what he had just promised her would probably be rendered null and void.
“Have I ever lied to you?” The man bent down to be on the same level as her eyes. “I can give you whatever you want; even if you want the moon in the sky, I’ll develop a guided missile and shoot it down for you.”
“Annoying. You’re lying to me again.”
She clenched her hand into a fist and hammered the man’s chest lightly with it as a form of punishment.
“Since you think that I’m lying to you, I’ll admit to it. That’s because I wanna continue lying to keep you by my side.” The man caught her fist. “Do you agree, then?”
“Hmph. I disagree.” Though she was rejecting his suggestion on the surface, she was actually very touched inside.
He was always like this and could touch her heart to the point of making her fear what it would be like if she lost him one day. Her happiest moment was to wake up with him and their children.
“It’s too late to regret; you’ve already gotten on my bed. You’re mine now, and nobody else can take you away—no one.” Ji Ziming gave a smirk. She, including her heart, had been his long ago.
