Chapter 249: Entering the Coalfield

Apocalypse Cockroach

Suddenly, the zombies at the frontlines turned chaotic. The few human-shaped flames moved randomly in the horde and spread the incendiary to other zombies. These numb zombies continued to endure the heat of the flames while the other zombies continued onwards.

The flames got larger to the point of enveloping a large crowd of zombies. The zombies’ natural instincts overwrote the mysterious zombie’s orders and started moving in chaos all around, transferring the flames onto other zombies.

It was a pity the chaos was only a small portion of the sea of zombies. A larger wave suppressed the zombies on fire and trampled over them, although countless of them were burnt alive, many more drowned them out.

The Type-54 12.7mm AA gun’s bandolier only held 70 bullets and had a firing rate of 80 rounds per minute. In less than a minute, the AA gun in Zhang Xiao Qiang’s hand was emptied.

While swapping for a new bandolier, consecutive explosions boomed out like thunder that caused Zhang Xiao Qiang’s heart to tremble.

Golden lights sprayed across the zombie horde like shooting stars, flashing past Zhang Xiao Qiang’s sharp eyes. The power from the golden lights flung the zombies and dirt into the air, as though a powerful storm had arrived, instantly breaking the sea of zombies that moved like a wall of darkness apart.

After having the mutation in his yes, Zhang Xiao Qiang was able to witness everything that transpired within the chaos. The power from the large caliber bullets forced the soil and rocks up into the sky, along with the broken limbs from the zombies and organs that dropped like hail. More than 10 lone zombies stood in place amongst the mess, unsure of why the mysterious sound that ordered them around had suddenly disappeared.

As the rays of light slowly extended deeper into the horde, more zombies were torn into pieces and flung into the air. The continuous golden lights were like heated fuel that spread across the black snow of zombies, instantly dissolving them and decreasing the horde at a rate visible to the naked eye. In the middle of the sea of zombies was a flipped over truck. The blue and charred truck had rusted over months of rain and shine and looked like an isolated island in the sea of darkness. Countless zombies moved around it with the occasional Type-S zombies jumping over it and into the sea of zombies. At the same time, the large truck was slowly pushed forward by the power of the horde.

The rain of limbs and soil brought about by the gold bullets moved over. Instantly, the zombies to the right of the vehicle were ripped to shreds by the large caliber bullets. The sky full of limbs and sand landed on the vehicle, producing clanking sounds as they struck the metallic surface.

Countless beams of light struck the vehicle, “Booom….” The incendiary explosives within the 14.5mm bullet exploded the truck and produced red flames that flew in all directions.

“Rumble….”

The entire truck burned and formed a large gold storm as countless zombies were ripped by the metal pieces. The zombies that were not ripped apart were set aflame by the burning metal, causing all the zombies around the vehicle to burn. As a result, the entire 100m space around the vehicle became empty without any standing zombies left.

This was the last scene Zhang Xiao Qiang saw before entering the coalfield.

Ahead of them were countless vehicles of various sizes. The windows and bodies of these vehicles were yellow from the soil and muddy water. After drying up, all of these vehicles formed a thin and yellow layer of dust. Almost all of the vehicles had different scars and claw marks on the bodies. A large bus even had more than 10 claw marks, the entire metal surface had been clawed out by sharp blades.

Over at the main building, endless gunfires could be heard from HMGs and rifles at a location 100m away from them. Countless vehicles blocked their line of sight, and over 10 members on the top of the building waved their rifles towards Zhang Xiao Qiang. Beneath the main building was a couple of S2s that attempted to scale the building with great efforts.

One of them dropped on all fours and retreated over 10m and suddenly shot forward. When it was 2m away from the building, it leaped upwards and planted itself onto the wall and used all four limbs to propel itself upwards.

In the end, it was unable to find an object for it to propel itself further. It started descending and used its sharp claws to slow its speed, leaving behind deep claw marks. The black soot and white cement drawn out from the claws descended down along with the S2.

Countless deep claw marks were left on the surface of the wall. Yet another s2 sped forward and used the momentum to jump up the wall. Following its intense speed, its claws coincidentally grabbed onto the claw marks left behind by another S2. By relying on this support, it pushed itself up another 2m.

A loud shot came out as a 12.7mm caliber bullet shot onto its back. The S2’s small body was instantly blasted apart, “Bang…..” A fiery light appeared at its chest as a flame enveloped its body. The burning corpse and some cement fragments dropped down, and a small hole appeared at the 6m height of the building.

Due to the powerful impact of the fire, a hole was formed. Zhang Xiao Qiang was startled by the hole, did he just create a platform for the S2?

In the driver seat, Shangguan Qiao Yun drove the vehicle along the perimeter of the coalfield in a zigzag pattern around the various vehicles. Yang Ke’er sat by her side and watched the S2s climbing the wall, “Stupid, why did you fall down. You almost reached the top. Hmmm, do your best, good good, grab it grab it. Quickly climb up. Oh my god, you’re really an idiot, you wasted such a good opportunity….”

Guo Fei sat at the back. He raised his head and looked at the S2 with disinterest. Using a spotless and pure cotton handkerchief, he gently wiped the mirror-like blade. The blade in his hand was the weapon left behind by Liu Tou and was made of unknown materials that did not chip even after deflecting many strikes from the Jing Wei Blade.

Guo Fei did not have any disgust towards this blade that had carved over 10 scars on his body. The difference in quality between this blade and the broken blade he had before was like heaven and earth. To him, this blade was his lover, his hope, and the only thing that would be buried with him when he dies.

Beside Guo Fei was Chen Ye, who had the Jing Wei Blade placed right by her feet. Zhang Xiao Qiang had the Rat King Blade and no longer held any attachments towards the blade. Furthermore, the Jing Wei Blade could not pierce through the D2, what’s the point of keeping it?

Unlike Lunatic Guo Fei, Chen Ye did not keep her weapon well. She casually laid the Jing Wei Blade to the side and leaned in her chair as she looked at the back of the seat in front of her. She was in her most natural state, and quietly waited for the battle to come.
