Chapter 101 - Chapter 100: Scammed by Draw Ten
Almighty Video Game Designer
Chapter 101: Chapter 100: Scammed by Draw Ten
Qian Kun, fourth year mathematics student at a university in Imperial Capital, same year as Su Jinyu. Based on their results, this guy would be the best in terms of studies, receiving National Scholarships every year and had already been invited to do research.
However, this guy wasn’t interested in research, but planned to enter the workforce instead.
It didn’t take long for Qian Kun to reach an agreement with Chen Mo when he arrived at the experience store.
Qian Kun also joined Thunderbolt Entertainment as an intern, and was paid eight thousand a month as well. Chen Mo didn’t mind paying them more either, but he wanted them to give time more time to gather experience and to hire time after they graduate, then giving them a proper salary.
Of everything about Thunderbolt Entertainment, Qian Kun was most interested in I Am MT because he thinks that the game has some mysterious power to be able to get the players to fork out too much money just from having a properly balanced game.
“Nice, now there’s someone else to take the blame when I make another scammy game,” Chen Mo thought secretly.
—
Now that the research was almost done, and he gathered all the manpower he needed, Chen Mo could finally start preparing for his next game.
Chen Mo had something in mind for the game, but he wasn’t sure if he would execute it with his current abilities, therefore…
Yep, pay to win games.
Chen Mo was now quite wealthy from the ten or so million net from I Am MT, which happened to be Chen Mo’s main source of income. Games like Plants vs Zombies and Lifeline were still selling, but at the same time the money was being redirected into Thunderbolt Tabletop, breaking even at the best.
Chen Mo estimated that his various video game designing skills were around eighty, art was around forty, music twenty, and storyboarding 13.
Chen Mo planned to max out the first levels of his video game designer skills, then level up art, music, and storyboarding skills a little bit as well as these would directly affect the quality of the games.
Chen Mo wanted to compete with high quality RTS games such as Legion Conquest, but the quality of the game might even be higher than the ones in his previous life.
Washed hands, washed face, and a cleansing bath.
Chen Mo topped-up five million RMB in exchange for fifty million credits.
Chen Mo did 7 draw tens to draw a lucky capsule.
Afterwards, Chen Mo took the capsule right away and spent all his remaining credits for spinning.
He might even get addicted to this drawing thing.
After all the draws, Chen Mo checked his loot.
Since he now had more money, Chen Mo didn’t mind as much if he didn’t get the bang for his buck, and managed to remain fairly calm.
Yep, very calm.
Designer Skill Books: 250.
Special Skill Books: 150.
Special Equipment: 100.
Yep, a perfect 5:3:2 ratio.
Equipment details.
250 Designer Skill Books, 74 numerics skill books, 61 level design skill books, 49 System Skill Books, 66 Story Skill Books.
150 Special Skill Books.
27 Original Art Skill Books.
49 3D Art Skill Books.
30 Animation Skill Books.
21 Music and Audio Effects Skill Books.
23 Storyboarding Skill Books.
One hundred Special Equipment.
Fifty-eight Memory Playback Potions, nineteen Reaction Speed Serums, twenty-two Hand Speed Boost Potions, one lucky capsule (already consumed).
“Hmm?”
Chen Mo was shocked to see the list of equipment.
Obviously the number of Designer Skill Books have already reached the upper limits, and in particular I’ve already maxed out the first level for story writing. Why did it give me sixty-six of those? Those cost ten thousand RMB each!
Can I convert them into Special Skill Books? I’m in desperate need of leveling up by art and music skills!
Also, what are these Reaction Speed Serums and Hand Speed Boost Potions!
What use would that serve me as a videogame designer?
Whatever, I’ll consume them first.
After calming down, Chen Mo started consuming the story writing skill books.
A pop-up appeared on the screen: “Your other abilities are still at level one. You’ll be able to draw level two skill books after all your skills reach level two to continue leveling up your abilities. This level one skill book is now useless and will be converted to thirty thousand credits.
“Pfft!!”
Chen Mo almost died from shock, What is this scam!
The book cost him one hundred thousand credits, but he only got refunded thirty thousand credits. This amount of refund is just amazing!
Holding back the urge to destroy the bracelet, Chen Mo consumed the other designer skill books.
System, numerics, level design, and story writing have finally been levelled up. But now he was left with one hundred ninety or so books that were converted into 5.7 million credits.
But level two hadn’t been unlocked yet, it seemed like other skills such as art, music and storyboarding were also included…
After consuming the special skill books as well, Chen Mo checked out his attributes.
System, numerics, level design, and story writing were all at one hundred, waiting for level two and were at level two.
However, he was unable to continue to level his numerics stats as he needed to reach level two for everything else to be able to draw level two skill books.
Original Art: 80
3D art: 84
Animation: 40
Music and Audio Effects: 41
Storyboarding Skills : 36
Chen Mo felt satisfied with the stats and didn’t feel the need to draw more. The numerics stats was also good enough to make an RTS game.
Because of the perspective of RTS games, he didn’t need his art stats to be too high, unlike the requirements for first person action games. Therefore, his stats for Original Art and 3D Art was good enough for now.
But he was a bit lacking in the music and storyboarding department, but he could just spend more money in the CG department to compensate.
Chen Mo’s stats in the Illusion Game Engine was as such:
Chen Mo: Videogame designer (C-grade)
Creativity: 49
Systems: 57
Numerics: 65
Level Designer: 53
Story Writing: 45
Original art: 39
3D Art:1
Monthly Resources Quota: 133MB/5GB
Chen Mo had made three games ever since he became a C-grade videogame designer, including I Am MT, Thunderbolt Tabletop, and Lifeline, but he was still a C-grade designer, yet to reach B-grade…
Creativity, Level Designer and 3D art didn’t go up one bit.
Systems, Numerics, and Original Art were increased slightly from I Am MT and Thunderbolt Tabletop. Story Writing on the other hand, was increased because of Lifeline.
Although it wasn’t much, his Monthly Resources Quota was increased to 5GB.
It feels as though the people responsible for this were quite cocky. Obviously they don’t recognise I Am MT, thinking that it wasn’t much in terms of design despite how profitable it was.
However, they decided to get Chen Mo a higher resources quota to ‘have fun’ with since he was now a frequent visitor of the best sellers leaderboard on the official app store.
