Miracle Pill Maker Bullies the Boss
1812 Time Travel Tunnel
Shangguan Hou was briefly stunned. He did not expect King to suddenly talk about the key. However, he quickly gathered his thoughts, straightened his back, and replied. “I made some headway. Please give me a little more time.”
King frowned looking at Shangguan Hou in displeasure. “This is taking far too long.”
Shangguan Hou lowered his head and no one was able to see the look in his eyes. “I will get it as soon as possible.”
King glanced at him again. “Only the people from the Shangguan clan know how to activate the time travel tunnel. After all these years, I hope you won’t disappoint me.”
“I understand,” replied Shangguan Hou softly.
King did not harp on the subject. He stopped looking at Shangguan Hou. “I have something to do, so I won’t be coming to the base for a while.”
The people in the meeting room were already accustomed to King leaving the base periodically, so no one raised any questions about it.
Before long, the meeting ended.
Just as Shangguan Hou was about to leave, King’s assistant called him back. Shangguan Hou proceeded to follow the assistant to basement three.
The best simulation chamber was located in basement three, so it was more secure than other parts of the base.
King was already in the simulation chamber. When Shangguan Hou entered, King was standing in front of a stone platform.
Sanskrit characters could be found engraved on top of the stone platform. Right at the center an engraving of an eight trigram could be seen. But the eight trigrams were incomplete. It contained two dents on it and pieces were clearly missing.
King kept looking at the eight trigrams without looking at Shangguan Hou who had walked up beside him. “Something seems off about you recently.”
Shangguan Hou looked at the stone platform. After some time, he smiled sadly. “Sure enough, nothing escapes your eyes.”
King gently touched the engravings on the stone platform and said, “You recreated this. Other than someone from the Shangguan clan, no one except you can unlock its secret.”
Shangguan Hou clenched his fists in his pockets slightly. He naturally caught King’s drift. “If I am not mistaken, Shangguan Tong has already shown up.”
A serious look emerged in King’s eyes.
“But she probably won’t help us activate the time travel tunnel.” Shangguan Hou knew the woman very well and was aware that she was very stubborn. It was impossible for Shangguan Tong to overlook the responsibility on her shoulders.
“Who knows, right? Everyone has their weaknesses. She was able to fake her death and appear again. This means we still have a chance to crack her mouth open,” said King nonchalantly.
“No, you don’t understand her.” Shangguan Hou shook his head. “But the key to activating the time travel tunnel is not her.”
“Oh?” King finally turned sideways looking at Shangguan Hou. “From the looks of it, you have been keeping some secrets from me all these years.”
“I just unexpectedly encountered someone and finally figured everything out,” said Shangguan Hou slowly.
“Shangguan Yu.”
King found the name familiar and quickly remembered her. “Isn’t she dead?”
Shangguan Hou laughed softly and answered in a mocking tone. “This is just one of those feats that only the Shangguan clan can pull off.”
To this date, even he was unable to fully comprehend exactly what the presence of Shangguan clan meant in these materialistic times.
“Do you mean we need Shangguan Yu to activate the time travel tunnel?” asked King quickly.
“If I am not mistaken, then yes.” Shangguan Hou narrowed his eyes and said, “However, her current identity is the eldest daughter of the Huo family.”
